Occupational Health Doctor (Permanent Position)
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Occupational Health Doctor to join our client's team in Menlyn, Pretoria. This permanent position requires a dedicated medical professional with a deep understanding of occupational health, workplace safety, and employee wellness. The ideal candidate will possess not only strong clinical expertise but also exceptional administrative skills to ensure the smooth operation of occupational health services.
Key Responsibilities: Medical Assessments and Examinations: Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and exit medical examinations to assess employees' fitness for duty and monitor their ongoing health in relation to their job roles.
Occupational Health Surveillance: Implement and oversee occupational health surveillance programs, including health risk assessments, biological monitoring, and vaccinations.
Diagnosis and Treatment: Provide diagnosis and treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses, ensuring appropriate follow-up care and rehabilitation.
Workplace Risk Assessment: Collaborate with safety officers to identify potential health risks in the workplace and recommend preventive measures to mitigate those risks.
Health Promotion: Lead health promotion and education initiatives aimed at preventing illness and injury, promoting wellness, and fostering a healthy work environment.
Emergency Response: Provide immediate medical care and coordinate emergency response in cases of workplace accidents or health emergencies.
Case Management: Manage cases of occupational injuries and diseases, including coordinating return-to-work programs and liaising with other healthcare providers.
Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. Prepare detailed reports, manage documentation, and ensure efficient handling of administrative tasks.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all occupational health practices adhere to South African legislation and guidelines, including those set by the Department of Labour and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Consultation and Advisory: Act as a consultant to management on occupational health matters, providing advice on policy development, health and safety procedures, and employee wellness programs.
Qualifications & Experience: Medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health (e.g., Diploma in Occupational Health) is highly desirable.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in occupational health or a related field.
In-depth knowledge of occupational health laws, regulations, and best practices in South Africa.
Proven ability to manage administrative responsibilities efficiently, with strong organizational skills.
