The Nursing Service Manager will be responsible for the overall nursing management of the hospital. This includes the co-ordination of all functions and activities related to the provision, promotion and assurance of quality patient care, through the leadership of a multidisciplinary team in consultation with all relevant stakeholders.The Nursing Services Manager will assume responsibility for motivating, supporting and optimising staff performance through capacity building, mentoring and training thereby ensuring that an optimum contribution is made to the successful functioning of the hospital. The Nursing Services Manager will be responsible for coordinating improved quality nursing care by ensuring compliance to professional and ethical practice. In accordance, the incumbent will be accountable for coordinating capacity building, mentoring and training, financial and stock management including cost effective quality patient care.Duties will include but not be limited to:Hospital Foundations: Promotes and restores patients health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patients careSafety and controls: Investigate all negative incidents and ensure appropriate capturing on IMSHolistic Care: Evaluate the patients journey through patient experience and stakeholder inputPeople Leadership: Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staffGovernance, Policy and Process: Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing health procedures and protocolsFinancial Management: Management of the nursing budget as well as understanding the financial fundamentals of the healthcare business Stakeholder Relationships: Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information and participating in team-building exercisesStock, Case and Billing Management: Ensure correct billing, stock management and purchasingRequirements:A relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing / B Cur Degree) or equivalent NQF 7 qualificationsRegistration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered NurseA post basic qualification in the area of specialty (Clinical areas including Health & Safety and Infection control) or evidence of competent experience in that field, together with contemporary skills and knowledge of that specialtyA relevant business management qualification is advantageousCompliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislationsAn intermediate level of Computer proficiencyA minimum of 5 years management experience within a private sector
