We are seeking a Nurse Educator to lead a talented group of professional nurses on our cardiac stepdown unit.
The ideal candidate will have years of cardiac nursing experience, preferably in caring for the congestive heart failure population, and a passion for educating and mentoring nursing staff.
The Nurse Education Safety Specialist works closely with the unit leader to drive education and support an environment for learning and delivering high-quality care to our patients.
Position Summary: Responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the staff development and educational activities designed to address identified or anticipated needs of learners for assigned area(s).
Assures the quality of patient care and clinical practice progression through the assessment, coaching, and development of the nursing staff and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
Clinical Practice & Patient Experience: Responsible for communicating, educating, and monitoring changes to clinical practice and expectations.Collaborates with the leadership team in strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of systems to support and enhance the competence, autonomy, and accountability of the nursing staff.Leadership/Management: Acts as a member of the nursing leadership team by participating in interview panels, orientation, and annual regulatory and clinical competency requirements.Assists Manager and/or designee to ensure the department complies with hospital established policies and procedures.Quality, Safety and Experience Improvements: Promotes a culture of safety within the organization.Reports out on all entered Safety Intelligence Reports.License/Certification/Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Education, or related healthcare field.Currently holds an active RN license in the State of Massachusetts.BLS CertificationACLS CertificationPreferred: Master's degree in nursing, Education, or related healthcare field.A minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching is highly desired.Process improvement experience.Experience/Skills Required: Must have at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience with cardiac patients.Experience with pulmonary artery catheters.Demonstrated leadership experience.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation computer software.Hours/Schedule/Other Notes: Four 9-hour shifts with flexible self-scheduling.Schedule requires working every 5th Saturday.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
