NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM CAMPUS) FACULTY OF EDUCATION SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES IN EDUCATION POSITION NUMBER: P002856 VACANCY: NGAP LECTURER PEROMNES GRADE: A8 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT APPOINTMENT
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Providing quality service regarding teaching and learning, research and innovation, and community engagement and commercialization activities within the Subject Group: Setswana and African Languages for Education. This position is a NGAP position and subject to the NGAP guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching and learning: Teaching a variety of Setswana modules within a multi-modal delivery approach of teacher training programs at under- and postgraduate level. Expertise and experience of teaching Setswana at school and/or a higher education institution are required. Supervise postgraduate students in Setswana Language Education.Research: Perform research in the fields of language learning and teaching. Act as supervisor and promoter for postgraduate students. Produce research outputs in an area of language education research.Community Engagement and Service Learning: Active participation in the development of community-based research by adapting and designing modules for service learning.Administration: Planning, organizing and record keeping as part of office and subject (module) administration in accordance with faculty's teaching policy and close collaboration with the subject group (meetings).Work Integrated Learning: Active participation to operationalize the WIL program at all levels.Minimum requirements: A master's degree (NQF level 9) in Setswana or Setswana Language Education or relevant to Setswana teaching or learning. (70% as final mark)A professional education qualification (NQF level 7) in Language Teaching Methodologies / Didactics.A minimum of three (3) years' functional and subject related experience in a Primary and or Secondary schooling context.South African citizen.ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES: A minimum of three (3) years' functional and subject related experience in a tertiary environment.Have professional registration with the SACE.Proof of completed postgraduate student supervision.Proof of publication of research outputs.KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Subject knowledge: Setswana HL and/or FAL.Teaching skills: Language Methodology and Didactics.Assessment competencies.Computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite).KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES: High standard of work ethics.Communication.Able to work individually as well as part of subject group (team).Ability to create own structures, adhere to deadlines and work in a self-directed manner.REMUNERATION: The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
