Job Purpose:
The purpose of this post is to support the faculty and department in pursuit of its academic and research objectives which include teaching according to a set syllabus; undertaking research and innovation; contributing to curriculum development and design; engaging in work integrated learning, and developing service-learning activities. The successful candidate will be developed to be a future academic in the Department of Architectural Technology & Interior Design.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience: A Master's Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology with a 70% pass markApplicants must be South African citizens who are 40 years or youngerRecommendations: At least two (2) years' experience in teaching Architecture/Architectural Technology at Tertiary levelAt least three (3) years' industry experience in an Architectural EnvironmentEligible to register with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession as Professional ArchitectImportant Notice: If not yet registered for a Doctoral degree, the successful candidate must commit to registering for a Doctoral degree within 3 months of taking up the nGap appointment and to completing the Doctorate within 5 years of appointment.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities: Participation in all components of the nGap development programme during the first six (6) years of employmentLecture in the field of Architectural Technology, specifically in the areas of 'Technology and Detailing', 'Design' and 'Computer Literacy'Deliver courses using Blended Learning methodologies at Undergraduate level.Operate on Learner Management Systems (on the official University platform) over a range of coursesDevelop innovative teaching methods by incorporating relevant technologies in teaching and learning activitiesParticipate in academic development and administrationParticipate in curriculum and programme developmentParticipate in Quality Assurance ActivitiesParticipate in research activities including undergraduate research projectsParticipate in Industry Advisory Committees & PartnershipsSupervise and mentor both undergraduate and post graduate studentsAssist with marketing and recruitment activitiesPerform other academic functions as may be required by the Head of DepartmentGeneral Information:
