PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The key function of this position is to be a network and server engineer, with specific focus on cybersecurity. This role is responsible for developing and implementing secure network solutions, carrying out assessments and penetration testing with remediation, managing audit/intrusion and security technology systems, architecting, and engineering/developing trusted systems into secure systems.
This role will be responsible for design, implementation and support of NAC solutions, Firewall Management, SIEM and SOC solutions and vendor management, switching & server architecture and solutions, encryption solutions, MFA solutions, assist with IoT device security, wifi solutions.
Note: this role has a requirement to support all sites. Therefore, it includes occasional travel to DBN and CPT, in addition to local travel in Johannesburg between sites.
MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Evaluate cyber security needs and recommendations Establish best practices and standards Review system changes for security implications and recommending improvements Implementing & overseeing cyber security measures Responding to cyber security issues Logging and updating calls via the ticketing system Incident Management of systems supported: Incident response, notification, resolution & logging Problem management of systems supported: Resolution and logging Interactive relationship with management Maintenance of Security, IT and Environmental networks / servers on all sites Maintaining Wi-Fi on all sites Maintain the Network monitoring and backup tool Involvement in the design of the network Engagement with OEMs and technical consultants Configuring, Installing and maintaining of network switches Maintaining Check Point Firewall Policies and associated documentation Capacity management Change control logging as it relates to the supported systems Monthly reporting ISO 27001, PCI, ISAE 3402 Type II compliance, monitoring and reporting, as it relates to supported systems Cybersecurity, information security monitoring & reporting SKILLS REQUIREMENT 3 years plus of experience identifying threats and developing appropriate protection measures on solutions supported Excellent interpersonal relations Excellent verbal and writing skills Attention to detail imperative Ability to multi-task is essential Able to perform under pressure Ability to adapt to change Open to learn and grow essential Take accountability and ownership Rule following Understanding of cyber security methodologies Good team player, self-confident, motivated, and independent Current knowledge of technology capabilities and trends; types, and techniques of hacking attacks in the wild Understanding of the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model and renowned ports and services can be an added advantage Significant low-level networking experience with the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) stack can be an added advantage QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Matric CCNA with experience on Aruba and Dell Switches CCNP or equivalent (Advantageous) MCSE Minimum of 5 years work experience in a networking role Excellent understanding of switching and routing and their related technologies, TCP/IP, IP Addressing, CIDR and DNS. STP, VPN technologies, OSPF, BGP Accustomed to working in a high-energy environment Technical competence and understanding is vital Valid South African Driver's License Basic Linux experience advantageous Aruba ClearPass experience advantageous. Alternately would be required to become Aruba Clearpass (ACCP) certified within 3 year of employment Checkpoint firewall certified training advantageous. Alternately would be required to become Checkpoint firewall (CCCE) and Checkpoint EDR Administrator (CCEPA) certified within 1 year of employment. Achieve Checkpoint CCCM within 3 years One of five potential security-related certifications or capacity to acquire a Public Trust security clearance can be an added advantage
