Job Purpose
To support the operational risk manager in the implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework in Nedbank and its subsidiaries to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and alignment to the operational risk management framework and international best practice.
Job Responsibilities
Meet with various stakeholders to obtain an understanding of their operational risk needs in order to deliver on their requests.Keep stakeholders updated on progress of operational risk monitoring support services by providing feedback to ensure expectations are met.Provide technical expertise and guidance related to operational risk to stakeholders to resolve queries and address issues raised.Liaise with relevant stakeholders/service providers through interaction to support and/or enable risk monitoring activities.Participate in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. Staff surveys etc.); thereby contributing to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals.Participate and support corporate social responsibility initiatives for the achievement of key business strategies.Add value to Nedbank by identifying and recommending opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and policies.Provide input in the development of an annual operational risk monitoring plan through alignment to Group Operational Risk Management (GORM) strategy and business plans.Agree contract deliverables, services, and timelines with all stakeholders in line with project management principles.Recommend enhancements to operational risk management (ORM) practices to stakeholders and improve efficiencies (e.g. enhance monitoring reporting) by providing input at relevant forums.Provide input into the enhancement of the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF), methodologies, policies, processes and provide guidance through research to address operational risk challenges.Monitor the effectiveness and relevance of internal and external loss operational risk data.Perform bespoke analysis on operational risk data elements in support of the risk management team.Review data and reconcile between systems.Assist the Risk Management Team in clusters by providing timely output (including reports and analysis).Present findings from the data models and systems, documented in reports, including recommendations to address gaps and timelines for implementation of corrective/management actions.Monitor and track implementation of corrective/management actions through scheduled follow-up reviews.Participate in the outcome of risk control self-assessment conducted by stakeholders.Monitor the performance of the vendors as per agreed timelines.Analyse major operational risk losses and control breakdowns through the facilitation of root cause analysis conducted by stakeholders and recommend appropriate corrective action and/or interventions.Support the input (loss data, risk control self-assessments, key risk indicators) into input analysis by reviewing the accuracy and adequacy of information and comparing information to external data.Monitor the adherence of mapping business processes to standardised criteria by reviewing and rating them.Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and demonstrate the values through interaction with team and stakeholders.Identify training courses and career progression opportunities for self with input from management to improve personal capability.Ensure all learning activities are completed within specified time frames to support personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities.Improve team success by sharing operational risk knowledge with the team to ensure operational risk management information is provided correctly to stakeholders.Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior CertificatePreferred Qualification
Bachelor of Technology: Project Management, Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
Minimum Experience Level
3 - 5 years experience in financial services and data analysis
