The National Sales Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the South African sales team, driving sales activities to exceed targets, grow market share, and achieve profitability goals. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership and communication skills, a results-driven mindset, and an innovative approach to bridging gaps and inspiring high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a comprehensive regional sales strategy, considering existing client base, competitive landscape, and new growth opportunities. This includes setting sales targets and managing pipelines.
Setting clear expectations, coaching, and developing account managers.
Provide clear direction but also be involved with the execution of initiatives.
Conduct regular check-ins, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development needs
Direct observation through face-to-face visits and timely feedback on how to position company products and address the customer needs.
Generate regular sales reports, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide insights to senior management.
This includes:
Manage the CRM program and support call cycle management.
Assist Account Managers with door listings and manage relationships with relevant hotel/salon/spa groups.
Oversee the incentive program for stockists to drive loyalty and commitment.
Contribute to the annual sales planning process and provide input on regional market dynamics.
Coordinate, execute and attend events to grow new business. This includes knowing the market and researching where the company should be represented and a ROI plan.
Attend trade shows / seminars when applicable.
Travel is estimated at 70% of time throughout South Africa, local and overnight travel based on geography.
Additional overnight travel to countries in Africa as needed.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Proven track record of success in sales management, preferably within the beauty or cosmetics industry.
Strong financial management skills, with experience overseeing P&L and sales/marketing initiatives.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite
8+ YEARS EXPERIENCE IN PROFESSIONAL SKINCARE (MANAGEMENT LEVEL) ESSENTIAL
Strong financial and sales team management skills.
This position would be a hybrid setup - but requires being available to come through to the head office in KZN when needed.
