About the job National Head of Road Freight Job Purpose: The National Head of Road Freight will oversee and lead operational excellence nationally and will be actively engaged in operational problems with a view to find workable solutions.
Job Function: Support Front Office and Middle office Operations with designing and standardising solutions to meet the service requirements of the Front Office.
Optimize transport solutions as per client needs.
Manage operational relationships with suppliers which include sourcing and negotiation to ensure: Establishment of focal point for suppliers.
Effective management of contracts and limits of liabilities in conjunction with legal.
Design solutions to guarantee complete and consistent quotations.
Ensure standardisation of operating procedures with suppliers.
Ensure compliance with MO procedures.
Ensure competitive rates and services.
Monitor and report on procurement performance including transporter performance.
Provide booking forecasts.
Analyse confirmed booking: GO, NOGO (further analysis required for the NOGO) Escalate/alert management and the HMO zone of any interesting / relevant market supplier information or any dysfunction.
Ability to drive strategic objectives ensuring consistent performance throughout the Cluster.
Any other delegated tasks deemed as reasonable as assigned by the Reporting Manager Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Degree in Logistics or equivalent 10 years experience in Freight Forwarding 5 of which should be in a Road Freight Head or similar role.
Pro-active, aggressive, result oriented, competent leader and team player.
Strong communication and presentation skills with excellent English proficiency.
Ability to influence, negotiate and resolve conflicts on internal and external matters up to board level.
Sound knowledge of the road transport business locally and internationally.
