National Commercial Head – Rialto / Cape Town Home > National Commercial Head – Rialto / Cape Town Reporting to: Managing ExecutiveLocation: Montague Gardens, Bolt Avenue, Western Cape We are currently seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as the National Commercial Head – Food Services.
This critical role involves driving sales growth and market expansion through strategic planning and leadership.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in sales strategy development, team leadership, and customer and supplier relationship management.
Key responsibilities include negotiating high-value agreements, preparing detailed sales forecasts and budgeting, and conducting comprehensive market research.
This senior role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of sales and market dynamics, collaborating with marketing and product development teams.

Key Job Functions : Sales Strategies: Develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive sales growth in the business.
This includes understanding the market dynamics, identifying opportunities for growth, and setting strategic goals for the sales team.
Leadership: Lead nationwide sales team members to achieve sales targets.
This involves setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
Relationship Management: Establish productive and professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts.
This includes maintaining regular communication, understanding their needs, and ensuring that the company is meeting their expectations.
Negotiation: Negotiate and close agreements with large customers.
This requires strong negotiation skills and the ability to effectively communicate the value proposition of the company's products and services.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze performance metrics and suggest improvements.
This includes tracking sales performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to improve sales efficiency.
Sales Forecasts: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts.
This involves analyzing sales trends, predicting future sales, and setting realistic but challenging sales targets.
Market Research: Perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunities.
This includes staying up-to-date with industry trends, understanding the competitive landscape, and identifying opportunities for growth.
Client Solutions: Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with clients' needs.
This involves understanding the client's needs, proposing suitable solutions, and ensuring client satisfaction.
Liaison: Liaise with Marketing and Product Development departments to ensure brand consistency.
This includes collaborating with these departments to align sales strategies, promote new products, and ensure a consistent brand message.
Product Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with new product launches and ensure sales team members are on board.
This involves providing training to the sales team on new products and ensuring they have the knowledge and resources to sell effectively.
Supplier Sourcing and Relationship Building: Grow long-standing relationships with an established supplier base as well as foster a productive relationship with our Italian Sourcing Office.
Source new suppliers in new categories and build strong relationships with them.
Team Development: Develop and implement training programs for the organization's sales representatives.
This includes identifying skill gaps, providing training and development opportunities, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Budget Management: Manage the sales budget, ensuring resources are used efficiently and expenditures are in line with the company's financial objectives.
Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry events and conferences, promoting the company's products and services, and staying informed about industry trends and developments.
Knowledge and Experience Required : A bachelor's degree in business or a related field is typically required.
Minimum 10 years proven relevant work experience in a sales management role in the food services industry will be a distinct advantage.
Experience managing a high-performance sales team.
Knowledge of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
An ability to understand and analyze sales performance metrics.
