Role SummaryAstral is a leading South African integrated poultry producer of whom National Chicks is a subsidiary, has a vacancy for a Payroll and Benefits Co-Ordinator in Camperdown KZN.Job DescriptionRole Requirements:A minimum of 5 years payroll experienceBookkeeping experience would be an added advantageStrong computer skills with advanced MS Excel experienceSkills and Competency Requirements:Ability to maintain confidentiality is essentialWell-developed interpersonal and communication skillsHigh level of accuracy, time management and attention to detailStrong administration and problem-solving skillsTeam Player / dedicatedProactive, able to work independentlyMust be prepared to work overtime when necessaryKey Responsibilities:Payroll reconciliations to General LedgerBonus, Leave provisionsReconciliation and reviewing of payrollsAccuracy in the administering of the wages/salaries function and attending to all queries in a professional mannerAdministering the timeous and accurate submission of all required returns in relation to the wage/salaries functionAttend to the timely and accurate payment of all staff wages/salaries and making the appropriate statutory deductions and engagements in order to maintain and update payroll recordsTimeous and on-going administering, controlling and attending to all queries with regards to the Provident Fund, UIF, Workmen's Compensation and any other related servicesLiaising with service providers to ensure proper administration of all related claimsMaintenance of the Payroll system - backing up the system, rolling over into new periods etc.Managing and controlling all aspects of month end proceduresEnsure all filing with regards to employee's personnel files are up to dateSubmitting monthly HR ReportLiaise with service providers to ensure proper administration (withdrawal claims, retirements claims, disability claims, death claims and funeral claims etc), due diligence and that processes are streamlined and ensure updated reports are timeously receivedProvide guidance, support and direction to HR/Payroll and members as required on benefits-related mattersActively participate in the continuous workplace improvement programs
