National Accountant - Equity Requirement - Jhb

The main function of this position is to be responsible for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities of the Company.The key tasks & responsibilities for this position are to: Process daily and monthly journals within the accounting records to comply with the appropriate accounting policies and procedures. Maintenance of cash book Management of accounting staff Prepare appropriate reconciliations of liabilities and assets as well as intercompany transactions to ensure the balances are accurate within the accounting system. Manage and resolve any issues affecting the processing of transactions which have a direct impact on the accounting records. Prepare monthly cash flow forecast/payment summary for all suppliers and loading of payments. Enforce compliance with finance policies and internal controls Performing of VAT reconciliations and submissions. Perform reconciliations of critical account balances and collate and consolidate information. Attending stock counts and ensuring all stock policies and procedures are adhered to. Preparation of monthly management reports Interpreting and writing financial reports once month end results are completed Preparation of annual budgets Monitoring performance against budgets and continually re-evaluating forecasts Understanding statutory requirements, e.g.
VAT, imports, exports Supervising / training accounting staff at Branch and Regional level Liaising with Internal Audit, Salaries, Legal, Human Resources, Transport and IT Departments at Head Office Involvement in the financial side of operations Analysing operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement. Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities. Establish finance and operational strategies by evaluating trends, establishing critical measurements, determining productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies
Project accounting including calculation of consumables used, overhead allocation, costing of WIP and inventory assembled.
The key educational requirements and qualifications for this position would be: A Bcom Degree in Finance, preferably an Honours Degree is a MUST.
Minimum 3 years post articles experience in accounting role or similar.
Thorough knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Experience within project environment would be advantageous.
Proven knowledge of cost control, financial analysis, accounting principles, practices, standard laws, and regulations is a MUST.
Knowledge of Corporate Governance, relating to risk management, financial reporting, financial auditing, controls, and compliance is a MUST.
Proven track record in the implementation of internal controls, corporate governance policies, improved operational efficiencies and financial models.
Solid understanding of statutory requirements, e.g., VAT, imports, exports.
Strong knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
The skills and competencies required for this position amongst others would be: Technical skills - ability to calculate and interpret financial results, manipulate large amounts of data and accuracy.
Business reporting skills - ability to compile accurate and meaningful business reports. Problem solving skills - demonstrate an ability to apply the principles of problem identification, analysis, and decision-making within immediate work context.
Time management skills - ability to manage own time and that of a team and being able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Stress tolerance - ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Result orientated - hands-on commitment and ability to get the job done.
Critical thinking - ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Dependable; being reliable, responsible, and fulfilling obligations.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality about all financial matters.
Ability to integrate/coordinate financial and operational strategies.
Ability to work independently in a team and under pressure with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external customers
Salary - R650 000 - R750 000pa CTC
