Job Overview The IT Specialist will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of servers, virtual machines, and SSL certificate management. This role requires a proactive individual with strong technical skills, particularly in server management, networking, and VMware virtualization environments.
Key Responsibilities Server Management and Maintenance:Manage, monitor, and maintain servers to ensure optimal performance and uptime.Perform software and hardware updates, patches, and routine server maintenance tasks.Troubleshoot and resolve server issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity.SSL Certificate Management:Install, configure, and maintain SSL certificates for secure communication across systems.Monitor certificate expiry dates and ensure timely renewals to avoid service interruptions.VMware Virtualization:Manage and maintain virtual environments using VMware (vSphere, ESXi).Perform installation, configuration, and optimization of virtual machines (VMs).Troubleshoot virtualization issues and ensure scalability and reliability of the virtual infrastructure.Network Administration:Assist with managing networks, firewalls, and VPNs to ensure secure connectivity.Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain system security protocols.System Security and Backups:Implement and maintain data backup and recovery procedures.Ensure security best practices are applied across servers and systems.Technical Support:Provide IT support to internal teams and troubleshoot software, hardware, and network-related issues.Collaborate with the Control Room team to ensure all monitoring systems are running optimally.Documentation and Reporting:Document system configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.Provide regular status reports on IT infrastructure and highlight any areas requiring attention.Qualifications and Skills: Education: Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.Technical Experience: Proven experience in managing servers and IT systems.Expertise in SSL certificate installation, configuration, and lifecycle management.Strong knowledge of VMware virtualization tools (vSphere, ESXi) – a significant asset.Experience with network administration, including firewalls, VPNs, and routing.Familiarity with backup solutions, system security, and disaster recovery processes.Skills: Proficient in Windows and/or Linux server environments.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.Certifications (Preferred): VMware Certified Professional (VCP)Microsoft Certified: Azure, Windows ServerCompTIA Security+ or equivalentPersonal Attributes: Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.Proactive, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.A team player with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.Job Type: Full-time
