ProSidian seeks a Mining Industry Fiscal/Economic Modeler / Revenue Specialist [541690 Contract Contingent] located in Cape Town, South Africa to support an engagement for the U.S. Govt. International Technical Assistance Program (ITAP).
Key Areas of Focus: 1) policy, legal, and regulatory reform; 2) technical, operational, and economic analysis; 3) financial mechanisms and market creation; 4) economic management, transparency and fiscal policy; 5) environmental impacts and social and community issues related to resource development.
Candidates shall work to support requirements as a Mining Industry Fiscal/Economic Modeler / Revenue Specialist and provide industry technical expertise, experience, training, and support with Energy, Extractives, and Renewable Energy concerns.
Serve as leading Mining Industry adviser to regulated businesses, economic regulators, law firms and investors internationally.Provide critical insight and expert reports in the context of periodic regulatory reviews, strategic decision-making, public policy debates, M&A transactions and competition cases.Perform financial modeling and valuation of energy assets and support regulatory and M&A due diligence.Design of price controls and regulatory frameworks based on established and planned regulatory and commercial strategy.Analyze and prepare formal written reports and presentations related to Mining Industry Economic Models and Revenue forecasts.Research and gather information, manage and carry out quantitative, industry and market analysis and report findings clearly and concisely.Develop and apply bespoke approaches to solve complex, unstructured problems.Develop and implement advanced methods for Mining Industry capacity expansion modeling.Write and publish results in peer-reviewed journals and/or technical reports.Collaborate with analysts working on other modeling teams.Analyze a wide variety of commercial, economic, financial, operational, regulatory issues in support of international Mining Industry projects.The Mining Industry Fiscal/Economic Modeler / Revenue Specialist shall have a minimum of ten (10) years of consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years.
Bachelor's Degree in math, economics, finance, statistics, computer science or another relevant discipline; advanced degree preferred.Ability to apply independent logical thinking to define problems, collect data, and make actionable recommendations.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Experience presenting research findings to technical and non-technical audiences.Experience with equilibrium-based modeling approaches and programming skills relevant to model development.General familiarity with software such as SAS, R, SQL, and other analytical tools.Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Relevant experience in Mining Industry regulation or consultancy preferred.Effective communication skills, both oral and written.As a condition of employment, all employees are required to fulfill all requirements of the roles for which they are employed.
