We are seeking an individual who will carry out mine closure cost assessments, develop mine closure strategies and mine closure plans. In addition to this the candidate will be required to perform day to day project management functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Effectively carry out project management on closure related projects using the organisation's methodology and principles to ensure that the projects are delivered on time, within budget and against our quality standards;
Calculate mine closure costs that are practical and satisfy regulatory requirements;
Provide a management framework for our clients to manage closure costs;
Liaison with clients and financial auditors to address mine closure liability queries
Provide advice and guidance to clients in terms of mine closure planning and implementation;
Address complex mine closure challenges using Project related information and clearly articulate findings and recommendations using reports, graphs, maps, etc.;
Consulting and collaborating with other internal and external specialists to develop appropriate technical solutions to specific aspects of closure planning, such as waste dump design, open pit rehabilitation, contaminated land, surface rehabilitation, or treatment of mine affected water;
Develop alternative mine closure measures and strategies to manage residual risks at closure;
Develop and implement mine closure project plans, in consultation with clients, to guide decommissioning and rehabilitation activities;
Develop future end land use plans;
Conduct audits and reviews of mine closure plans and liability assessments and present findings;
Carry out site visits (locally and internationally) and contextualize mine closure scenarios;
Utilise available software packages to analyse and interpret spatial data.
Build and maintain relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements: Experience:
Mine Closure Cost calculation experience;
Strong understanding and practical implementation of applicable local and international Mine Closure Guidelines and country specific legislation;
Knowledge of country specific requirements for Mine Closure (locally and internationally);
Knowledge of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) processes;
Understanding different rehabilitation techniques;
Consulting and Project Management Experience;
GIS related experience (ArcGIS, QGIS, Model Maker, etc.);
Ability to develop appropriate technical solutions to specific aspects of closure planning;
Read and understand engineering designs and associated outputs;
Ability to use software packages to analyse and interpret spatial data; and
Strong understanding and practical implementation of applicable legislation and international mine closure guidelines or regulations.
Five years' experience in a similar role;
Preferably experience within a consultancy environment;
Project management experience; and
Previous experience working on international projects.

Qualifications
BSc. Engineering/Environmental Science or similar;
Experience with GIS software and analysis of spatial data would be beneficial;
Must be accredited with an appropriate professional body; and
Must have a valid driver's license and passport
Other
Prepared to obtain other vaccinations that may be required by clients and for travel purposes.
Prepared to undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Assessment.
