We are looking for a self-driven, hard-working, administratively strong, and experienced MILLWRIGHT TECHNICIAN (Red Seal) with good leadership skills, to be responsible for all Electrical & Mechanical maintenance and fabrication work, servicing and repairing of multidisciplinary equipment at various sites, as well as full commissioning of plants.
This position will report into the Maintenance Manager and will be based in the Hermanus area (Western Cape). The ideal candidate will need to have good communication skills, at least 5 years relevant experience in SCADA and PLC control systems as well as field control instrumentation, must have a code B drivers license, and have the ability to actively promote a positive working environment and a sense of belonging among all staff. SUMMARY OF ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:Implement Perform mechanical & electrical maintenance, as well as any required building maintenance or fabrication work, on the water treatment plants.Fault finding duties on telemetry systems, motor control centres (LV switchgear and installations), Blowers, Compressors, Generators, pumping systems, bulk water and wastewater pipelines and other electrical and mechanical infrastructure related to water and wastewater treatment and conveyanceMaintain Safety precautions, and ensure that safety procedures are followedFull commissioning of new or modified plant, equipment, as well as the shutdown and start up procedures for all plants.Preparation of equipment for inspection as well as Monitoring and control of equipment corrosion.
Responsible for the control of workshop equipment and tools.Will be required to be available for 24-hour rotational stand-by duties.
Ensure that all maintenance activities are accurately complied with and that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed.
Maintain all records regarding the performance of maintenance duties.
May be required to undergo legal liability training and carry legal appointments on selected sites.Responsible for supervision of general workers. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCE:Must have a minimum of 10 years proven working experience as a Millwright artisan.Must be a Certified Trade Test as Millwright (RED SEAL).Must have a minimum of Grade 12 or NQF Level 3 Qualification.Ideally hold a wireman's licenseMust have a valid driver's license.Must be medically fit to work on industrial and mining siteMust have the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.Must be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, callouts, and work overtime as per the role requirementsComputer literate (MS Office).
