Our client is looking for a skilled Millwright Technician to join their maintenance team.
The role involves performing electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and repairs across water and wastewater treatment sites.
The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, safety compliance, and strong problem-solving abilities to ensure smooth and reliable plant operations.
Responsibilities: Conduct mechanical and electrical maintenance, including fabrication work, on water treatment plants in line with maintenance schedules and standards.
Perform fault finding on telemetry systems, motor control centers, compressors, generators, pumping systems, and related infrastructure.
Oversee installations, commissioning, shutdown, and start-up procedures for all plant machinery.
Supervise general workers, maintain workshop tools, and control stock for maintenance operations.
Adhere to safety procedures, including PTW (Permit to Work), PTOs, and risk assessments.
Ensure all equipment and assets are used correctly, safely, and maintained according to OEM standards.
Record maintenance activities, compile reports on root cause analysis, and recommend improvements for plant reliability.
Engage in 24-hour rotational standby duties and assist with emergency repairs when needed.
Key Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
Proficiency in SCADA and PLC control systems, as well as field control instrumentation.
Excellent organizational and administrative abilities.
Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a high standard of safety and housekeeping.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Google Workspace tools and cloud computing applications (e.g., DocuSign).
Valid Code B driver's license.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with 5 years in SCADA & PLC systems.
Qualifications: Grade 12 or NQF Level 3 qualification.
Millwright Trade Certificate and Wireman's License (required).
