ENVIRONMENT: This Senior Platform Engineer is part of the Site Reliability Engineering team for a radio astronomy company, focusing on automation, deployment, and management of operational systems. This role involves collaboration with global software engineers to ensure reliable CI/CD pipelines and providing senior-level support for complex issues. Senior engineers also mentor junior team members and are accountable for their deliverables. You must have a BTech, Degree, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields to qualify for this role. DUTIES: Key Responsibilities: Implement and verify the computing platform in collaboration with the software team. Define and implement CI/CD pipelines for the software system. Contribute to systems engineering and operations documentation. Support users, operators, and system changes. Collaborate with other teams in construction and operations. Support system/array integration and testing. Serve as a senior technical specialist in the Computing and Software team. Maintain professional relationships with the Compute Infrastructure and Networks team. Participate in project management and training activities. Research and implement new technologies. Mentor junior engineers. REQUIREMENTS: Key Requirements: Qualifications: BTech, Degree, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields. Experience: BTech with 13 years, Degree with 9 years, Master's with 7 years, or PhD with 5 years of relevant experience. Experience in software engineering, large-scale computing, high-performance computing, private cloud, and virtual computing (e.g., OpenStack, Kubernetes). Systems administration experience with Linux and open-source tools (Docker, Helm, Ansible). Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GoCD, Gitlab, Travis-CI). Knowledge: Proficient in C++ and Python. Experience with application servers, web servers, and databases. Integrated security practices in DevOps pipelines. Systems Engineering processes. Experience with infrastructure provisioning tools in cloud or virtualized environments (AWS, OpenStack, GCP). Working knowledge of Git and related best practices. Understanding of lean/agile principles. Ethernet network technologies and management. Linux operating system and standard tools. Skills/Competencies: Strong team-based working enthusiasm based on lean/agile principles. Ability to transition between system development, roll-out, and support operations. Experience in mentoring and educating junior engineers. Proficient in continuous integration and automated test execution tools. Knowledge of infrastructure provisioning and cloud environment tools.
