MFC HR Practitioner Industrial Relations & ProjectsPURPOSE OF THE JOBTo enable a healthy IR climate by effectively maintaining and facilitating IR processes as well as coordinating related projects.Job ResponsibilitiesSAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITYIdentify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ statusCUSTOMERSLiaise with HR stakeholders and investigate concernsInteract with customers and familiarise yourself with operational concerns or issues.Ensure Internal and External customer satisfaction by effectively addressing concernsCarry out customer surveys and satisfaction follow-up actionsBUSINESS PROCESSESSupervision and coordination of IR ProcessesCoordinate and attend disciplinary hearingsEnsure consistency and compliance by all parties to the Disciplinary Policy, Procedures and Legislation at disciplinary/grievance hearingsKeep appropriate records of proceedings and outcomes of disciplinary/grievance hearingsFacilitate the resolution of employee grievancesAssist line management and employee representatives on conflict resolution and leadershipResolve operational IR issuesRecord and compile monthly disciplinary and litigation statistics reportsPreparation of cases referred externallyRepresent the company at the CCMA or MEIBC when necessaryIdentify and monitor IR trends and IR climate at MFCTrack all union related issues and liaise with shop stewardsHandle day to day conflict, queries and disciplineCompiling communiques pertaining to IR issuesCompiling letters and/or responses to unionsAssist line supervision with counselling and written warning sessionsCompile and conduct IR/Labour Law/Disciplinary trainingAssist with the implementation of EE objectives and initiativesBe the champion for dealing with absenteeismCompile daily, weekly and monthly absenteeism reportsAnalyse absenteeism and compile absence trend reportsRecommend and implement absenteeism management interventionsExit process: conduct exit interviews (C-Band and lower) and report findingsSchedule and arrange all Union meetings / Committee meetings and capture minutes within 7 days of the meetingIdentify and conduct HR related projects as and when necessary or requiredEnsure all IR administration is always up to dateEnsure employee IR records are filed in the employee's personnel fileCompile all IR Reports for 20 Pager, HO and MFCComply with the relevant HR Legislation (Labour Relations Act, EE Act, Skills Development Act, Basic Conditions of Employment etc.)Provide information and advice regarding legislation that may impact IR & ER issuesAssist with new HR Projects, Team building and Culture exercisesManage the employee transport function including liaising with the service providerSHEQ Audit preparation for areas of responsibilityWork overtime as and when requiredParticipate in HR StandbyAny related ad hoc tasksGROWTHManage continuous improvement through Operational ExcellenceSHAREHOLDER VALUESupervise, prepare, control and plan for IR Budgets. Enhance business acumen and strive for continuous improvement.Minimum Qualification And ExperienceRelevant Higher Certificate (NQF 5) or National Diploma (NQF 6)Four years' relevant experience which includes two years' full time IR experience and at least two years' HR Generalist & Benefits experience in a heavy industrial environmentADVANTAGEOUSDegree or National Diploma in Law or equivalent qualificationLabour Law exposure and 2 years IR skills implementation at CCMA and Bargaining CouncilNegotiations with UnionsComputer literate - competent (MS-Office)SAP Experience and/or systems exposureDriver's License (minimum B/ Code 08)Behavioural Competencies RequiredSafety AwarenessInitiativeManaging WorkResults OrientationCustomer FocusOperational Problem solving and decision makingWork StandardsInterpersonal RelationshipsCommunicationFlexibilityContributing to Team SuccessBusiness UnderstandingWORKPLACE COMPETENCIESSkillsMicrosoft Office programsSamancor Chrome Systems (IMS, EBMS, Chromedoc, SAP, Coupa, MES)SAP – Capturing and Maintenance of disciplinary records.Negotiation and bargaining skillsDemonstrate and apply an understanding of Labour legislation (e.g. Basic Conditions of Employment Act (Act 75 of 1997) Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1995)). Demonstrate understanding of how to provide HR guidance during a Disciplinary Hearing. Demonstrate understanding of Dispute Resolution Legislation and Procedures.
