A vacancy exists in Gqeberha for a Metrologist who will be responsible for fulfilling the requirements and duties of the Metrology Room Key Performance Areas:Create Measuring Programs for measurement of new and existing wheelsProvide effective feedback to all relevant departments, if dimensional deviations or defects identifiedPrepare APQP/PPAP/ISIR documentation according to Customer requirementsParticipate in Problem solving activities, FMEA / Control Plan Meetings (Part of APQP)Conduct Routine testing and Product auditsTake the lead on Gauging designs, approval and also creating work instructions thereofCalibration – Maintain calibration status of all existing gauges and instruments – inclusive of physical verification of instruments in accordance with works instructions, as well as all relevant documentation. Manage external calibration processes.Conduct Capability studies/ad-hoc measurements as part of investigations; lead investigations into wheels not meeting requirementsDocumentation and record – Maintain relevant filing systems (including drawings and measuring reports, registers and issue levels). Qualifications:A tertiary qualification, e.g. ND Mechanical Engineering or BTech QualityQualified Trade – Preferably Toolmaking or MechanicalCertificate in CMM Measuring / 3D ScanningQuality specific training in VDA6.3, IATF16949, Core Tools and CSR's Work Experience:Minimum 5 years work experience in a Metrology Lab in a factory environmentUnderstanding and utilization of PC-DMIS CMM SoftwareShould have thorough knowledge of the entire plant processesExperience with SPC / MSA / APQP / 8D concepts Other Requirements:Understand CMM Measuring equipmentThorough knowledge of Sampling processAbility to interpret technical drawingsAbility to work under pressure, lead a team and be a team-playerAbility to be pro-active, good time management skillsHonest, have integrity and good communication skillsExcellent attendance and disciplinary recordsComputer literacy is essential (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, MiniTab, 3D Scanning)Must have a valid Drivers License (own transport preferable)If you have a passion for the Retail (clothing) industry, a strong management background, and the ability to drive results across multiple departments, we want to hear from you!
