Our client, an ever expanding mine outside of Middelburg is seeking to employ an experienced and suitably qualified Metallurgical Manager Process Plan and Direct all Metallurgical work on site Direct, plan, schedule and coordinate detail phases of metallurgical work within
a specific project scope
Manage the overall design of process flowsheets, plant layouts, material
handling systems, manpower requirements, equipment procurement and
material utilization for new projects
Develop an ongoing strategic plan to meet present and future metallurgical
needs
Provide technical expertise for the plant operating performance, reduce waste
and delays, promote cost reductions and achieve a high level of operating
efficiency
Evaluate current and potential processing methods
Create and manage budgets according to Company plans
Provide ongoing technical input to the development and implementation of plant
strategies and flow sheet concepts to support production objectives and
optimize financial results
Deliver on the operating plan Implement, monitor and control business processes according to quality
standards, policy, and compliance and governance requirements
Ensure the development, alignment, mapping and implementation of end-to-end
standard operating procedures / processes
Research, enable and consult on improvements and opportunities to harness
technology
Provide Technical support to the operation team Translate technical specifications into an operations plan
Analyse the recorded technical data and suggest process and technical
improvements where necessary
Function as a Metallurgical Engineering subject matter expert Provide metallurgical technical expertise to technicians, metallurgists and
process plant operators
Improve and adapt processes to create efficiencies
Advise on improvement opportunities or changing legislation
Monitor metallurgical performance and coach technicians / specialists on
conducting tests to improve throughput and recovery
Finance Monitor costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste Comply with cost controls in order to achieve section budget
Report on cost usage that reflects delivery of planned work within agreed
parameters
Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and to streamline
processes
Identify repeat failures that contribute to wastage
Ensure good governance including the effective use of management systems to
monitor compliance to business direction and policies
Ensure financial documentation is maintained to support accurate record
keeping and future requirements as per legislation
Escalate potential risks that may lead to increased costs or financial losses
