Main purpose of the job:To handle, process, store, log, test, interpret, prepare and report on all specimens/reagents according to the required protocols or accepted methods while adhering to GCLP (Good Clinical Lab Practice) guidelinesLocation:1 Modderfontein Road, Sandringham - JohannesburgKey performance areas:Receive labelled and captured samples from Clinic as defined by the protocol or required by the sponsor or PIFill in CRF checklist to see what processing is requiredCheck and verify that details on tubes and CRF correspondProcess the samples as indicated in the study specific protocol or defined in the SOP to set up testing for phenotypic and molecular diagnosticsAnalyse and record the results and relevant tool as stipulated in study specific protocol/SOPFile results in patients' files or according to SOP/ProtocolEnsure samples that need not be analysed are kept at the correct temperatures as per study specific protocolPerform instrument and manual tests.
As and when required by study specific protocolRe-run tests as and when required as defined by protocol or as defined per work agreementFollow up on incomplete tests and ensure completion thereofCapture manual test results on CRF or Laboratory systemComplete QC as per study specific protocol/SOP with internal quality control in conjunction with relevant staffPerform internal audits as required including freezer sample checksMonitoring of equipment's and temperature charts daily as requiredComplete routine equipment maintenance, calibrate the laboratory equipment as required for the operation of that particular equipmentPrepare media and reagents to specification as required for testingRun various quality control procedures.
As defined by the assay protocol or SOPAssist with stocktaking and ordering of consumables and reagents as requiredManagement and storage of biohazardous waste and toxic materials as and when required in the safety manualTimeously report all non-conformances within the QMS to managementPrepare and attend to audits as per notifications received from QAO, sponsor or external entityDevelop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for trials, new experimental protocols and equipmentManage logistical shipping process of Infectious and Biological substances from site to the designated trial Sponsor locationLiaise with Monitors and resolve queriesMonitor and control work flows and turnaround timesPerform relevant administration i.e.
