We encourage you to apply promptly as the advertisement may close early should a suitable applicant be sourced.School ContextYipirinya School is an independent Indigenous community school in Alice Springs controlled by an Indigenous Council and catering for Indigenous students from the nearby community and outstations. The school has excellent, purpose-built classrooms, and support facilities for all teachers. All classroom teachers currently have the support of a full-time Indigenous Assistant Teachers. The school offers a two-way learning approach (bi-lingual & bi-cultural) to education and we are the only school in Australia that offers learning in four Aboriginal languages. Relationships Based Learning, and Healing Centred Behaviour Support are significant improvement priorities at the school.A day in the life of a Media Officer and Event Manager:In this varied role, you will be responsible for promoting projects and initiatives and coordinating proactive media opportunities for Yipirinya School - the only school of its type in Australia. To do this, you'll research and create engaging content for media, publications, and online channels. While predominately working on proactive opportunities, you will bring experience in responding to reactive media enquiries.Your strong storytelling will enable you to produce creative and quality content valued by stakeholders and peers. This is a fast-paced setting, and the occasional change of focus and juggling of competing demands will be required. This role requires working on a scheduled rotating on-call roster, where you will respond to out-of-hours media enquiries, across a seven-day period including evening, overnight and weekends.If you have had experience as a:Communications OfficerEvent ManagerCorporate Communications WriterJournalistProducer of Media Materials & PublicationsThen this may just be the role for you!We are in search of an experienced communication specialist with strong writing and editing skills to deliver media strategies and plans, coordinate media and PR activities and respond to media enquiries, working across Council.
