Responsibilities:Holding the responsibility of the technical expert of plant machinery, from the mechanical perspectiveManaging the compliance and execution of all mechanical statutory requirements in the assigned plantProviding technical support (in terms of data, information, etc.) to the maintenance execution teamThe execution of more complex maintenance activities, including the management of contractors required for these activitiesThe role shall serve as the first call on break-down events to support the problem diagnosis and advise the maintenance execution team on appropriate corrective actionTroubleshooting – understand and utilise technical drawings, P&ID's, etc. for fault finding on plant problemsEnsure adherence to engineering standards by the team during maintenance executionThe role shall provide support to the planning department on routine maintenance and shut-down activities from a technical perspectiveManagement of repairable and non-repairable spare parts as per the RACI definition of the process procedure, such as quality check activities, etcManagement of specific maintenance service contracts in the plantAnalysis and ownership of actions arising from equipment condition-based monitoring reports (including scoping of work). Collaboration with condition-monitoring team from this perspectiveManagement of operational risk arising from equipment defects and faults ('mill equipment risk list')Identify and implement small-scope improvement projects and initiatives from a technical design perspective with the intention on improving service lifeAuditing of the quality of service received by the Central Maintenance Services departmentAuditing of the quality of maintenance performed by centralised maintenance execution (hydraulics and rolls)Maintaining the required condition of plant and equipmentDirect support and management (setting the standard) of the quality of maintenance execution in the plantManagement of the plant technical documentation as per the RACI definition of the process procedureSupport the Maintenance Manager in ensuring compliance to all mill asset care procedures (with specific reference to Work Order, Technical Change and Shutdown Management processes)Support the central Engineering department during appropriate technical processes (for example, RCFA investigations)Support the central Engineering department through the identification of improvement potential and sources of lossSupport the central Engineering department in the development of applicable Engineering Standards for the millYour Profile:National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering3 to 5 years within the maintenance / engineering function in a heavy industry environment – pulp and paper, steel processing, mining, etc1 to 3 years in the role of mechanical technician within this environment would be advantageousExperience in the application of the following core engineering processes:Maintenance quality managementShutdown management and task executionBudgeting and cost managementContractor managementFault-finding and troubleshooting (application of problem-solving techniques & tools)We Offer:Duration: PermanentGet in Touch:We strive to create a culture that inspires our people to reach their full potential.
