Mechanical Manager

MAIN PURPOSE: To manage and oversee the mechanical maintenance activities during assigned shifts, ensuring that all machinery and equipment in the manufacturing facility are in optimal working condition, thereby minimizing downtime and maximizing production efficiency.
ROLE-SPECIFIC Accountabilities: Key Results Areas / Accountabilities · Supervise the mechanical maintenance team during the shift, ensuring timely and effective response to any machinery issues.
· Coordinate with the production team to prioritize maintenance activities without hampering production.
· Implement preventive maintenance programs and ensure adherence during the shift.
· Troubleshoot and resolve machinery breakdowns in a timely manner.
· Train and mentor junior maintenance technicians, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills.
· Monitor the usage of spare parts and tools, ensuring optimal inventory levels.
· Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during the shift.
· Provide regular reports to the Lead Engineer on maintenance activities, issues, and resolutions.
· Collaborate with other shift managers to ensure consistency in maintenance practices across all shifts.
Key outcome Indicator · Reduction in machinery downtime during the shift.
· Timely resolution of equipment-related issues.
· Adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.
· Positive feedback from the production team regarding equipment performance during the shift.
· Efficient usage and management of spare parts and tools inventory.
Role-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications & experience · Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
· Professional engineering certification is a plus.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role, preferably in the food or peanut manufacturing industry.
Must have knowledge of: · MS Office Suite In the absence of relevant qualifications, experience in the relevant field and at the relevant level will be considered.
Recommended skills & abilities · Strong knowledge of machinery and equipment used in peanut manufacturing.
· Excellent leadership and team management skills.
· Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using project management software and tools.
