Mechanical Engineering Technician

Minimum Requirement:National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering2 Years experience in a Mechanical engineering environment would be an advantageMust be computer literate & have CAD knowledgeSummary of Duties: DesignNew turnouts & track componentsAdaptation of existing designs, if requiredInterface of manual operation/switching devicesInterface and adaptation of trailable self-normalizing systemsInterface of switch machinesAll drawings according to paid down specifications and within defined parameters Ensure drawings are1005 correct and ready for production Support to Sales Principal (basic) layouts for new projectsEstimates and cost Calculations for new productsWeight and Length calculations for shipping of new/existing productsSite visits for measurements for surface track and mining (underground if required)Site visits for after sales service (fault finding)Supervision and physically participating in installation of products on siteAssist with system design description documentsAssist to compile guideline documentsAssist with generating new cutting programs for CNC machinesHandle inquiries relating to design of productsFault find and evaluation for quality assuranceGenerate or update BOMSearch for specifications/drawings for existing itemsReverse engineering of parts for machinesDesign drawings for jigs, where necessaryTooling drawings where required
