Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer (Jnr + Snr)Location: Cape town - Airport CitySalary: Market relatedVacancy Type: Full-TimeClosing date for applications: End Dec 2024Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required:Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.Experience:Junior Level: 1-2 years in mechanical or aerospace engineering with CAD skills.Senior Level: 3+ years in mechanical design with experience in airframe systems, including leadership roles.Software Skills: Proficiency in CAD software.Beneficial requirements:Software Proficiency: FEA or CFD knowledge is a plus.Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong technical analysis and problem-solving abilities; senior-level should demonstrate expertise in airframe engineering.Teamwork & Communication: Strong collaboration skills, with senior-level engineers capable of leading team efforts and guiding junior engineers.Duties and responsibilities:Airframe System Design:Develop and refine mechanical designs for airframe systems, ensuring adherence to performance and safety specifications.Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor) to produce detailed technical drawings and models.Prototype Development & Testing:Create and test prototypes for system validation, conducting analyses to evaluate structural integrity and functionality.Analyze results from simulations and testing, proposing design enhancements as needed.Documentation & Compliance:Prepare detailed design documentation, technical reports, and specifications aligned with industry regulations.Ensure all designs comply with regulatory standards, performing quality checks throughout development.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work alongside electrical engineers, aeronautics specialists, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of airframe components.For senior roles, lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers in best practices.Project Management:Assist in project planning by estimating timelines and resources required for design tasks.Senior engineers will oversee project phases, ensuring timely completion and alignment with client specifications.
