Howden's core focus is on providing quality solutions for air and gas handling and has over a century of experience in doing so.Howden South Africa Division is looking for an experienced Materials Lead for a project at Tutuka Power Station on a fixed term contract of 18 months.
The Materials Lead will be responsible for all aspects of material handling, stores management, and the development and optimisation of site logistics solutions to meet the needs of the project.
The incumbent will manage the movement of people, goods, and equipment at the construction site and control site facilities management.What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…Plan site set-up to move plant and materials around site efficiently and safely.Plan internal materials routes through the site, lay down areas, and offloading points.Responsible for all traffic management.Create operational procedures and method statements.Liaise with contractors and subcontractors in accordance with the schedule.Ensure materials are brought to site as and when required.Control materials in and out of site.Coordinate and supervise all material receipts and issuing in line with procedures.Keep detailed records of all material movements throughout.Support construction with all their materials, tools, and equipment, including logistical support.Manage the material warehouse, maintain and balance stock levels, and generate inventory reports.Maintain daily records of equipment, incoming and outgoing materials.Conduct regular audits of inventory.Coordinate purchasing and supply of materials.Store materials as per appropriate storage code requirements.Ensure the organisation's health and safety policies are implemented and followed.Ensure that PPE is available on site.Manage sub-contractors to deliver their package of goods or services.Control variations and communicate foreseeable changes early.Organise resources to enable contract deadlines to be achieved.Ensure logistics activities are not a constraining factor on the schedule.Ensure that material movement to and from the workface does not cause damage to the works, the workforce, or the public.Complete safety inspections to company and client standards.Ensure team has safety training to the company and client's standard.Ensure all equipment is inspected, maintained, and tested to agreed frequencies.Ensure supervisors provide and record 'Toolbox Talks' to workforce.Your Education Should Be…Qualified Artisan preferably a Fitter, Boilermaker, or Welder or HigherDiploma in Project ManagementNEC courseYour Professional Experience Should Be…5 years' experience managing materials on construction sitesComputer literatePower generation plant experienceDriver's licenseMedically fit in terms of SHE ActManagement qualificationChart is an equal opportunity employer...This is an equal opportunity position.
