MAT - Senior Civil Site Laboratory Manager Full-time SGS Matrolab is seeking to fulfil key roles as Civil Engineering Site Laboratory Managers.
The role requires the incumbent to manage a site laboratory.
He / She will be responsible for all laboratory related tasks, on site laboratory tasks.
He / She shall be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and improvement of our quality systems to ensure that the laboratory functions smoothly, with excellent quality of service, contributing to accuracy, productivity and profitability.
The Laboratory Manager will ensure that all equipment is cleaned and maintained regularly and that materials testing is completed in all laboratory divisions, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate with bench calculations as required for testing.
The ideal candidate will be disciplined, treat colleagues and management with respect, be deadline & revenue driven, and possess enough energy and passion to maintain good staff relationships.

Responsibilities: Laboratory management and production planning on site.
Liaise with clients and relevant regional managers.
Ensure reporting is correct before signing and distribution.
Implement quality control systems and Health and Safety regulations in and around the laboratory.
Manage a multi-disciplinary site laboratory including soils, concrete, asphalt, seals, and aggregates.
Assist technicians with any job whether on site or inside the laboratory as per instruction from the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager.
Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.
Follow all SGS policies and procedures on site including but not limited to payroll, leave, and disciplinary procedures.
Provide training for all staff as training needs are identified.
Ensure all SGS mandatory training is completed as required.
Send all timesheets, claim forms, and payroll instructions to the relevant departments timely.
Education: Relevant national Diploma OR Grade 12 Experience: Driver's License, Relevant National Diploma, and five years relevant experience within the Civil Materials Testing Laboratory.
Qualifications: Competent and qualified to perform all tests (TMH 1 and SANS) in all laboratory divisions including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate.
Competent and qualified to implement quality laboratory control.
Competent and qualified to supervise and execute all fieldwork.
Familiar with COLTO & SANAS.
Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
