Company DescriptionSGS Matrolab is seeking to fulfil key roles as Civil Engineering Site Laboratory Managers. The role requires the incumbent to manage a site laboratory. He/She will be responsible for all laboratory related tasks, on-site laboratory tasks. He/She shall be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of our quality systems to ensure that the laboratory functions smoothly, with excellent quality of service, saving manpower costs, which contribute to accuracy, productivity, and profitability. The Laboratory Manager will ensure that all equipment is cleaned and maintained regularly and that materials testing is completed in all laboratory divisions, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate, with bench calculation as required for testing. The Laboratory Manager will ensure that the laboratory is clean at all times and will carry out all work-related instructions from authorized personnel.The ideal candidate for this position will be disciplined, treat colleagues and management with respect, be deadline and revenue-driven, and possess enough energy and passion to maintain good staff relationships. A successful career in delivering performance against agreed strategic objectives and ultimately ensuring that all quality and testing methods are observed, and any deviation is reported without delay.Job DescriptionA Senior Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for:Laboratory Management production planning on-site and meeting deadlines.Liaising with clients and relevant regional managers.Ensuring reporting is correct before signing and distribution.Implementation of quality control systems and Health and Safety regulations in and around the laboratory.Multi-disciplinary site laboratory management including soils, concrete, asphalt, seals, and aggregates.Adhering to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.Assisting technicians with any job whether it is on-site or inside the laboratory as per instruction from the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager.Performing any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.Following all SGS policies and procedures on-site including payroll, leave, and disciplinary procedures.Providing training for all staff as training needs are identified.Ensuring all SGS mandatory training is completed as required.Submitting all timesheets, claim forms, and payroll instructions to the relevant departments timely.QualificationsEducation: Relevant national Diploma OR Grade 12Experience: Driver's License, Relevant National Diploma, and five years relevant experience within the Civil Materials Testing Laboratory.CompetenciesCompetent and qualified to perform all tests (TMH 1 and SANS) in all laboratory divisions including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate.Competent and qualified to conduct quality laboratory control and implementation.Competent and qualified to supervise and execute all fieldwork.Familiar with COLTO & SANAS.Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.Additional InformationFull-time fixed position with competitive salary, training and development, internal promotions, travel, and responsibilities from time to time.
