An exciting position has opened for a young and dynamic Marine Engineer in Training to join a multidivisional firm
Job Description:
Identify and explore opportunities for improving processes and products
Collaborate with support functions during investigations
Research projects aimed at reducing waste
Examine manufacturing processes and components that face challenges with safety, time, and quality
Work with support functions and stay updated on industry advancements
Assist manufacturing lines to meet production targets
Understand new design projects and identify ways to improve and implement them
Discuss designs with the design and manufacturing teams
Identify risks related to safety, time, and quality for new projects
Support engineers with action plans for prototypes
Help introduce new builds and provide feedback on changes
Update risk assessments based on prototypes and work with teams to address build issues
Offer guidance to ensure successful introduction of new models
Create and compile technical documents, including manufacturing and assembly drawings, quality control documents, and manuals
Participate in design changes through the Engineering Change Request process
Support various departments like Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, and Warranty
Help resolve quality issues and improve processes to reduce losses and meet quality and delivery goals
Find alternatives for obsolete stock and specify product details for purchasing
Skills & Experience:
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Experience in product design
Effective communication skills
Proficient in project planning and management
Strong numerical skills and experience with relevant software
Sound decision-making capabilities
Understanding of manufacturing processes for specific or similar products
Mechanical and general technical engineering knowledge
Self-motivated with a high level of focus
Qualification:
Required Qualification: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Mechanical Engineering
Preferred Qualification: BTech or Bachelor's degree (NQF Level 7) in Mechanical Engineering
Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
