Grade 12/ NQF Level 4
Degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management)
Certification in procurement or supply chain management (SAPICS) – Advantageous

Lead and oversee research and development efforts to drive innovation and product development within a national manufacturing company, while also managing best supplier relationships and advising on procurement strategies.

Develop and implement R&D strategies
Support Director in managing the R&D team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
Oversee research projects from conceptualization to product launch
Collaborate with other departments
Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities
Manage R&D budget and resources efficiently
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
Idea generation, research, planning, product costing and raw material sourcing
Identify and evaluate alternative for raw material and components suppliers, both within South Africa and internationally, to optimize cost and quality
Conduct thorough assessments of potential suppliers
Develop in-depth knowledge of procurement processes and best practices
Provide strategic recommendations to senior management on procurement decisions, supplier selection, and R&D initiatives
Conduct cost-benefit analyses for new materials, technologies, or suppliers
