With a direct report to the General Manager - Regional Network, this position has responsibilities for both operational, and project-based deliverables. It requires the job holder to interact with key external and internal stakeholders, whilst ensuring a consistent output.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Buying-Manitou Southern Africa Assist in enhancing Manitou Southern Africa supplier requirements (safety, capabilities, capacity, flexibility, quality systems, B-BBEE, etc).Conduct supplier evaluation/audits and assist in identifying appropriate suppliers.Negotiate supplier T&C's, warranty, delivery, quality, etcIdentify, monitor supplier performance metrics and establish service level agreements.Facilitate bid analyses based on financial, technical, safety and quality metrics.Negotiate components/services costs.Long term strategic supplier requirements.Establishing, documenting and maintaining purchasing processes.Identify cost reduction opportunities.Identify supplier risks and prepare contingenciesEngineering & Quality Projects-Manitou Middle East Africa Engineering Projects: Managing Cost, Schedule, Quality, the lead on delegated Engineering Projects from the conception to completion.Corresponding with contractors, and managing all aspects of contractor project interface.Client interaction-communicating project status with clients, and alerting the client in advance with relation to project slippage.Responding to dealers on special adaptation requests with pre-set performance response times, and obtaining required information to enable an accurate quote.Performing drafting on solidworks when required.Ensuring project related documentation is filed, and traceable.Participate in ISO and IT system improvement projects-may be requested to lead certain projects as stretch goals.Quality Projects: Document Quality deficiencies relating to product functionality with the responsibility of capturing feedback from across the region.Categorizing quality non-conformances by machine functional group (Electronics, Drivetrain, Hydraulics, Structure) and prioritizing according to criticality.Structuring quality non-conformances on a formal report and determining an action plan, encompassing a cost effective, suitable rectification method in conjunction with the production facility and Middle East dealers.Sales and Operational Planning Projects Determining Strategic and critical machine inventory to be held at dealership level for product introduction, and adapted to different stages of the product lifecycle.Ensuring Machine Stock is forecasted by determining optimum inventory level, and monthly production levels. Liaising with production plant to minimize slippage of initial planning date, and also balancing production across the region.Identifying opportunities to optimize shipping costs for parts, machines and machine attachments to the MEA regions.Identifying strategic demonstration stock to ensure marketing visibility and roadshows for key products.Creating benchmark Key Performance Indicators (KPIS) for part availability, inventory turn for dealerships across the MEA region and measuring performance against these KPIS.Managing the Dynamic Supply chain planning system for Manitou Middle East Africa.Monthly, weekly and ad hoc reports to highlight plant delivery performance related issues, and budget progress.EDUCATION: Btech/BSC in Mechanical engineeringEXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3 years' experienceCOMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to work with people at various levels from shop floor to senior management.Ability to cope with pressure and tight deadlinesTechnically Adept, and conversive with engineering tolerances, terminology and concepts.Logical systemic thinkerCommercially astuteKnowledge of drafting standards.Computer literacy with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.Experience in using Solidworks 3d DraftingQuality and productivity focused.Sound ethical values, self-driven and high energy.INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS: · Internal interactions: Works in partnership with almost all departments of Manitou Group
· External interactions: Represents the company as appropriate in its relationships with major suppliers, competitors.
LOCATION & EXPECTED TRAVEL: · This position is based in Proton Industrial Park, South Africa.
· Travel may be expected on a 25-40% time basis.
