We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Managing Director for Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) to lead our regional operations and drive significant growth across diverse educational markets.
About the role Reporting to the Group Managing Director - International Education, the Managing Director Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) will lead Cambridge University Press & Assessment in SSA. The SSA business has a diverse portfolio spanning across International Assessment and Qualifications, Ministry and Education Reform Partnerships, and publishing aimed at local curricula. This role aims to leverage joint capabilities and drive growth in this region by integrating the three businesses under one leadership team.
Key Accountabilities include: Provide a compelling vision and leadership for the SSA region. Manage the transition to a unified organisation in the region. Build high-performing teams to execute a single SSA strategy. Drive strategic plans for Cambridge's International Education growth in SSA. Foster relationships with senior stakeholders for educational opportunities and reforms. Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and internal quality standards. About you: We are seeking an experienced executive leader with a passion for education and for Africa, with a proven track record of driving business growth and transformation in complex environments, preferably across multiple education sectors. The ideal candidate will:
Be a strategic leader with the ability to provide vision for the business in the region. Demonstrate executive presence, gravitas, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with senior stakeholders. Contribute strong business acumen with extensive experience in strategic financial planning and management. Lead with confidence and flexibility, balancing short-term and long-term goals. Have a deep understanding of educational policy, pedagogy, curriculum reform, and trends in Sub Saharan Africa. Promote inclusivity to drive diverse thinking and better decision-making.
