An exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager: Student Governance and Co-curricular Programmes is available within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Student Development and Support.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the implementation of diverse projects, including maintaining control of project planning, schedules, resources, execution, budgets, risks/issues, and reporting. Forming part of the SDS Leadership Forum, the Manager: Student Governance and Co-Curricular programmes works closely with all SDS Departments and other key internal and external partners.Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the DVC, the successful incumbent will be responsible for planning, organising, and implementing student governance and training projects. Responsibilities include:Planning, organising, and implementing specific student governance and training projectsImplementing an Integrated Annual Student Leadership ProgrammeAssuming full responsibility for student governance and the training programme of the SRC and its affiliated structuresTogether with the SRC, designing a process that focuses on the implementation of the Student Governance ConstitutionPlaying an oversight role over the work of the Student AssemblyDesigning and implementing the SRC leadership coaching programmeAssisting in coordinating and implementing the Student Leadership Incubator ProgrammeManaging the co-curricular programmesCoordinating and managing the SRC inauguration, induction, and handover from the previous SRCIdentifying training opportunities and mentoring programmes for the SRC and other student governance areasEnsuring a framework that guides the implementation of the SRC programme and monitoring and evaluation thereofResolving and/or addressing escalating conflicts/issues in a timely fashionMinimum Requirements:At least 5 years of relevant experience in higher educationThree years of management experienceA minimum of 3 years proven track record in managing projectsProficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and MS ProjectRequired Competencies: skills, knowledge, and behavioural attributesKnowledge of student governance as an important area within higher educationKnowledge of strategies and approaches to promoting responsive and accountable student leadershipFamiliarity with policy development and facilitating broader involvement of different student organisationsProven track record of successfully delivering projectsExcellent abilities in public communications and consensus-buildingAct as a positive change agent within the Office of the DVC, SDS DivisionFacilitate team and stakeholder meetings effectivelyHold regular status meetings with project team, business sponsor, and other stakeholder groupsEffectively communicate relevant project information to the person you report toDeliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentationsUnderstand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfullyIn your application, you are encouraged to highlight your strengths and include anything else you deem exceptional to be considered by the selection panel.
