Job Purpose
To professionally manage and control the stores and the procurement process of CPUT in line with the CPUT's strategy, policy and procedures and to ensure compliance with legislation and policy requirements.
Promote an efficient stores and procurement service for the University that will result in value for money.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
A relevant Bachelor's degree in Procurement/Supply Chain Management/Logistics Study field with a strong bias to stores, procurement management, with Procurement /Supply Chain management, stock management and operations as the major subjects (or equivalent qualification).
At least five (5) years of relevant experience within a medium to large organization which handles tenders in excess of R500 million.
Three (3) years proven management experience in a procurement environment.
Technical knowledge in Demand Management, Acquisition Management, Logistics, Risk Management, Audit, Stores.
Database management, control implementations, and Performance Management.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
CIPS qualification will be highly desirable and advantageous.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Develop, implement and manage procurement policies and procedures.
Develop, implement and manage the CPUT stores system together with the related policies and procedures.
Manage and monitor the performance of CPUT's Stores and procurement staff.
Generate periodic management reports for management and store items.
Prepare and liaise with audit in the conducting of both internal and external annual audits.
Database implementation, management and Risk management.
Any ad hoc function as required by your line manager.
Competencies
Knowledge of public procurement legislation and industry practices (e.g. PPPFA Act, BBBEE Act, Code of Good Practice, etc).
Solid negotiation skills.

Advanced communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to make decisions under a pressurized environment.
Ability to monitor and control different resources under management.
Ability to innovate and develop new ideas including stores and procurement policies and procedures.
Knowledge of computerized stock control techniques, tools, and systems.

Change Management skills.
Advanced computer skills (ITS and Microsoft Suite, especially Excel).
