Job Purpose The GIS Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the GIS Department, with a focus on risk management, budget management, market development, project management and strategic planning.
Responsibilities and Duties General management and marketing of GIS products to clients Manage and analyse GIS data, producing reports for management and other departments Conduct market analysis to determine and enhance market share Use GIS data to assist with credit-related risk management Provide GIS software-based logistical planning support Develop tailored GIS solutions and services to clients Process, analyse and model spatial data Ensure the continuous quality assurance, maintenance and distribution of spatial data Generate maps, GIS reports and other information products to support users Compile and organise GIS data from maps, databases and other sources Digitise and convert mapping resources and data into usable formats Ensure accuracy and quality in data collection and map generation Develop chemical maps and web applications
Qualifications and Skills Tertiary qualification in in GIS, Geography, Cartography or Surveying Postgraduate Management Qualification: MBA (advantageous) Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience Credit experience (advantageous) Programming experience (advantageous) Proficiency in GIS software (ENVI, GEOBIA, ArcGIS & QGIS) Bilingual (Afrikaans and English) Understanding of farming and its various aspects Ability to present complex data in a simple and understandable manner Ability to work independently and proactively to solve complex issues Ability to work under pressure
