This role requires effective contract and EHS management with suppliers and contractors.
The performance of the facilities & EHS departments are measured with KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) against the services provided and managed using a variety of tools such as a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Eco-Online to plan and track maintenance and EHS indicators to ensure that internal and external customers' expectations are met.
Essential Job FunctionsLead and co-ordinate the site facilities team to ensure a high-level customer experience and the excellence of operationsOverall responsibility for EHS in operations in JNB including direction, strategic development, performance, and maintenanceManage maintenance scheduling information, aligned to supply chain contracts, for both management and customers on an annual basis to allow for future planning by customersManage multiple one-time and/or ongoing projectsEnsure supplier performance is in line with company expectations and contractsFirst contact for any Operational EHS ConcernsParticipates in the strategic plan implementation, track metrics, provide leadership and training, meet day-to-day EHS responsibilities, and drive continuous improvement of the organizations EHS management system.Provides the leadership and direction to coordinate, develop, implement, and enforce EHS compliance with the legislative framework, company policies and procedures.Direct, manage and maintain contact with internal and external clients/customersDeveloping strategic plans (KPIs) aligned with EHS department requirements for team activities to include health and safety strategy to achieve agreed targets, and effective planning.Investigate incidents and accidents to ensure the timely production of corrective and preventative action plans.DutiesFacilities management is a broad ranging set of services that ensure the smooth running of the facility.
These include but are not limited to the following;Provide professional guidance to customers, management and the team in a prompt, courteous and professional mannerSupport the PFM in ensure the site is a safe working environment that is suitable for employees and customersCollaborate with the Director, EHS, EMEA to ensure standardization of policies and procedures, as applicable, across the South African footprint of locations.Conducting/delivering regulatory training programs to meet EHS requirements.
Analyses safety metrics and communicates results to leadership to drive action and accountability.Present topical information/metrics on a regular basis to site leadership teams as well as the Director EHS EMEA, Senior EHS Director – EMEA, and the Senior Leadership team - EMEA.
Being accountable for EHS performance metrics and implementation of annual improvement plans.
Stand in for the PFM in their absence and act as a first point of contact for any Facilities related issuesProject management, managing and co-ordination of activities that are carried out by third partiesEnsure all personnel working on site or within the facility comply with Data Centre rules and all ISO accreditation guidelinesEnsure all mechanical and electrical infrastructure is maintain in line with OEM recommendations ensuring resilience is maintain and uptime targets are metCo-ordinate the day-to-day maintenance and facilities activities to the Facilities TeamFacilitate site tours for potential and existing customers and/or visitors as required and perform EHS inspections and observationsManage relationships between Vantage Operations and any customer activities on siteEnsure access, deliveries and collections are compliant with the Site Access processes and proceduresPlan and implement activities relating to the Site and Grounds maintenanceSupport the PFM in site EH&S duties and site auditsManagement of the site CMMSSupport the planning and implementation of activities relating to site Pre Planned Maintenance and remedial workMaintain a close relationship with the Customer Experience Team to keep the client experience at the forefrontEnsure building is maintain at a high safety levelConduct Safety audits on ContractorsMonthly safety walks with client and regular engagement with the Operations team on best safety practices Job RequirementsNEBOSH General Certificate preferredIEMA General Certificate preferredIn depth knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental LegislationExperience in Data Centre or Critical Infrastructure industries, preferredProject management experience, preferredStrong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate internally with team members as well as externally with vendors and other service providersExcellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlinesAssertive and confident and able to quickly build a high level of personal and professional credibility within the business and customer baseWork effectively in collaboration cross-functionally to achieve shared goals and deliver business objectivesConfident decision maker, even with incomplete or limited informationCandidates must possess reliable transportation for reporting to site, or for any emergenciesStrong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office 365Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training purposesPotential employees must complete a background check successfullyWe operate with No Ego and No Arrogance.
