The Opportunity We are looking for a Manager Engineering to join our Science and Resilience directorate on a full-time basis in our busy Dunedin/Queenstown/Alexandra office.
The purpose of this position is to provide effective leadership and operational oversight to the teams that manage the flood protection, drainage, and river management functions at Otago Regional Council.
It provides an opportunity to drive the river engineering work programmes to support the resilience of Otago communities.
As a Manager Engineering, you will be responsible for:
Providing leadership to the Engineering Team, ensuring alignment with ORC priorities and fostering a high-performance culture.Overseeing the delivery of high-quality capital works and maintenance programmes supporting the resilience of Otago communities.Working collaboratively across ORC and with external partners and stakeholders to drive effective environmental management and leverage funding opportunities.Managing the timely and budget-conscious delivery of projects, ensuring they meet ORC's strategic objectives.If you are interested in leading a team and having an impact, then this is the role for you!
About You Our ideal candidate will have:
A dynamic leader with at least six years of senior leadership experience, ideally within local or central government.BEng Qualification or equivalent in a similar field.10+ years' experience in Civil/Mechanical Engineering and/or Contract Management field.Strong strategic planning, people management, and change management skills.Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively to various stakeholders.Experience in fostering partnerships and stakeholder engagement.What we offer We recognise and celebrate diversity within Team ORC and are committed to providing a work environment that supports inclusion and equal opportunities.
