To monitor and manage the assigned solution(s) to achieve the solution plan (growth targets, performance indicators), enhance competitiveness and contribute to its growth.
Custodians play a crucial role in the financial industry by safeguarding assets and ensuring smooth settlement of transactions. Their functions can be categorized into domestic custodians and global custodians, each serving different scopes of asset management and operational needs.
Domestic Custodians:Focus on managing and safeguarding assets within one country.Handle local trade settlements, corporate actions, and regulatory reporting.Provide client support and tax services specific to the domestic market.Global Custodians:Offer a broader range of services across multiple countries.Manage cross-border trades, international corporate actions, and global regulatory compliance.Provide comprehensive global reporting, investment services, and international tax solutions.Considerations for the role:Technical ExperienceKnowledge of Custody Services: Deep understanding of global custody operations, including asset servicing, trade settlement, and corporate actions.Financial Products Knowledge: Familiarity with a wide range of financial products including equities, bonds, money market instruments.Regulatory Awareness: Awareness of global regulatory environments and compliance requirements affecting custodians and financial markets.Technology Proficiency: Experience with custody platforms, financial software, and data management systems.Analytical SkillsProblem-Solving Ability: Capacity to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues related to custody services and client needs.Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in managing financial transactions, documentation, and client reporting.Client Management SkillsClient Relationship Management: Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with institutional clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively to clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.Project Management SkillsProject Management Experience: Ability to manage projects from inception to completion, including defining project scope, setting objectives, and managing timelines and resources.Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.Strategic ThinkingVisionary Approach: Ability to develop and implement strategies for growth, efficiency, and innovation in custody services.Market Awareness: Understanding of market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in the custody and financial services sector.Leadership and TeamworkLeadership Skills: Capability to lead and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, cooperating with different departments and international colleagues.Risk Assessment Skills: Expertise in identifying, assessing, and managing risks related to custody services and financial transactions.Crisis Management: Ability to handle crises and unexpected issues in a calm and effective manner.Cultural SensitivityGlobal Perspective: Understanding of different cultures and international business practices, especially relevant for a role that operates across multiple countries and regions.Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, client demands, and technological advancements.Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated on industry developments and pursue ongoing professional development.Additional ResponsibilitiesLocalize and execute the solution set strategy for assigned area Global Custody/Domestic Custody. Develop and implement plans and set effective targets to achieve portfolio P&L, performance indicators, revenue targets and client expectations, in line with overarching solution strategy. Provide local market insight and input towards the Strategy.Research, collate data and understand the client base and market, providing input into the solution value proposition. Build relationships with key regulatory bodies / associations and engage in market advocacy to proactively identify new opportunities, influence and lobby.Follow and adapt within group guidelines, monitor, and lead local NPCs. Monitor solution utilisation against performance indicators, to identify areas for improvement that will increase their return-on-investment.Contribute to setting the budget, monitor actual expenditure, consolidate and aggregate financial performance and profitability and validate investment business cases, priorities, and decision making.Drive execution of solution design and development, including constructing design and development teams to configure, adapt and test solutions, and communicate test results within the local context.Act as a solution expert, bridging technical expertise to maximise revenues, ensure client satisfaction, regulatory compliance and systems acceptability for moderately complex solutioning.Own and manage internal and external awareness, internal training and publishing collateral. Communicate solution updates, enhancements and market trends to client facing teams to enhance their solutioning capability across origination and client service efforts.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Type of Qualification: First DegreeField of Study: Finance, business, economics, or a related fieldAdvanced degrees (like an MBA) or professional certifications (like CFA or CPA) are advantageousSignificant experience in the financial services industry, particularly in roles related to global custody or institutional asset management.
