Passionate about finding insights in datasets, with the ability to synthesise and clearly communicate the results and drive business impact?An exciting opportunity exists in Santam Broker Solutions: Operations – Shared Services Team for a Manager: Business Intelligence Analyst based in Johannesburg/Cape Town.The Manager of Business Intelligence (BI) is responsible for leading a team of data specialists to enhance the organization's data-driven decision-making. Reporting to the Head: Shared Services, the Manager ensures the effective development, implementation, and management of BI tools and processes. The role focuses on driving insights from data, optimizing reporting practices, and fostering a culture of data excellence across the organization. An individual with experience using a variety of data tools, analytics, and data visualization to turn data into actionable insights with demonstrable business impact. Data acquisition and preparation – acquiring data from various data sources; assessing the integrity and relevance of the data before combining and transforming it into interpretable datasets, reports, and dashboards.Generating and distributing accurate reporting on a monthly and ad-hoc basisConduct a gap analysis of the current data landscape with Operations and formulate an improvement strategy.Responsible for implementation of information solutions to address business needs and driving opportunities to improve processes and strategies with technology solutions. Track and measure against improvement strategy.Engagement with IT – Management Information (MI) to ensure continuous improvement of both the processes and systems as required.Providing advice, solutions and resolving complex information queries.To monitor and provide advice, solutions and resolve problems relating to systems.Analyse and interpret data patterns and business trends to provide actionable insights for Operations.Analyse and build statistical models for various sets of data on a regular basis to assist in determining business trends.Data quality control and data management.Develop automated reporting within current constraints, given data programming knowledge. Creates relationships between business areas, enabling a better understanding of data and reporting. Sets a standard of reporting used across all business areas units built on sustainable solutions developed in conjunction with Data Architecture, MI/BI and Data Products.Validate, Collaborate & Research - Continuously explore ways to enhance business insights by analysing key profit / cost / process efficiency drivers, key indicators, relationships, and trends. Develop a thorough knowledge of products, systems, platforms and related reporting.Analytical Insights and Data Visualisation – Analyse and interpret complex data, identify trends and assess possible high risk exposure areas indicating key/emerging themes.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEMinimum 5 years' data management experience i.e; Data Analysis, Data Visualisation and ReportingMinimum 5 years' experience managing the BU portfolio and delivering solutions to the respective BU'sMinimum 3 years' experience of leading a team of technical specialists3-5 years of experience in Financial Services with experience in underwriting and analysis (Short Term Insurance preferably)Experience in reporting packages and data analytics tools: SAS, SQL, Cognos, Qlikview, Qliksense, SAP Business Objects, Power BI and Advanced ExcelBachelor's degree in Business Intelligence, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or a related fieldSkillsStrong technical skills (proficiency in using multiple tools i.e PowerBi Qlikview, Qliksense, Microsoft Cognos)Strong knowledge of SQL and data warehousing conceptsAnalytical and problem-solving abilitiesEffective project managementExcellent verbal and written communicationAbility to tell a story with dataBusiness insights and financial acumenExperience with financial and operational operatingKnowledge of data management and agile software delivery methodsAdvanced Excel, PowerPointAttention to Detail, Accuracy and Quality ManagementBuild a successful career with usWe're all about building strong, lasting relationships with our employees.
