Are you in?Purpose of the role:Vector Logistics, a leading name in the logistics industry, is seeking a Management Accountant to join our team. The role reports to the Commercial Manager and requires an analytical individual with commercial and costing experience. The Management Accountant is responsible to provide management accounting support and insight for the relevant customer/principal/depot.Minimum Requirements:B. Com Degree or equivalent (CIMA / CA qualification will be an advantage)3 to 5 years management accounting experience, including commercial costing (exposure to processing or manufacturing environments advantageous)Computer literacy (SAP and MS Office skills prerequisite)Key Responsibilities:Budgeting & Forecasting:Prepare budget & forecasting timetables. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget & quarterly forecast pack for presentation. Co-ordinate the capex budget within agreed parameters.Project Management:Responsible for identifying logistics areas for process improvement & cost savings to ensure expectations are met. Lead, manage & facilitate reporting improvement projects across the business. Monitor industry standards, trends, or practices to identify developments in logistics planning or execution. Identify training, coaching & mentoring opportunities where possible for the team to achieve performance targets.Reporting:Oversee, analyse & interrogate results in TM1 by customer & depot. Manage the focused delivery of an accurate monthly scorecard. Understand & manage the data accuracy & reconciliation in TM1, streamlining existing processes & paper trails to reduce the risk of human error & improve speed of information delivery. Oversee the balancing of all reports, sign off on recons & document investigation of variances. Publish weekly & monthly "snap-shot" reports as required by the business in an accurate & timely manner by developing a broad knowledge base of the organisational processes & policies, staying fully informed of operational objectives, performance & critical trends and focusing on the compilation of a monthly commercial reporting pack that highlights focus points for the month, exposes core issues, generates action plans & assigns responsibilities. Present the monthly commercial report & follow-up sessions where appropriate in order to provide the business with the tools to make informed strategic decisions, implement change & maximise profitability. Assist in the review & actioning of TM1 variance reports prepared using data extracted from TM1. Analyse & explain KPI fluctuations & variances. Provide monthly commentary for submission to the Commercial Manager.Cost analysis (ABC Model):Understand the ABC Model & cost drivers. Provide commercial insight into variances of cost drivers month on month. Identify changes in the business that need to flow through the model. Maintain data process flows & present changes at commercial team meetings. Analyse costs against budgets & forecasts. Provide input driving optimisation of efficiencies in the depot environment. Analyse all input costs within the cost centre. Analyse proposed changes to cost allocation (as a result of trials or change in specifications) & assist with data collection of new business proposals. Implement cost management initiatives within the team.Variance Analysis:Understand the SAP cost centres & the upload into TM1 to assist in variance explanations. Prepare presentation of major variances to the Commercial Manager. Participate in investigations & audits to support initiatives designed to control costs & maximise profits. Provide commentary on the monthly reporting packs, ABC model month on month variance analysis. Analyse actual KPI's versus budget & work with the teams to address areas of non-conformance or concern proactively & timeously.Information & Data Management:Ensure team members accurately & regularly capture data into the information system to enable access to reliable data & reporting for trend analysis & decision making. Share relevant data with management teams to enable reliable business decision making. Take responsibility for data accuracy & completeness for the relevant model.Customer Service:Respond to customer queries regarding information relating to the operations activities. Engage with Fleet Management Operations team Planning & Finance to improve efficiency & reduce cost to serve in order to provide cost effective customer service. Act as the global go-to person for all Operations data quality related questions.
