Key Performance Areas: Develop work instructions for critical jobs. Develop safe work procedures. Supervise the work done by the Artisans. Do quality control on the work done by the Artisans. Allocate work to artisans as per job cards issued. Control spares usage and disposal of redundant material in area of responsibility. Ensure good housekeeping in the workshop and the plant. Make sure all jobs are carried out with a job card. Make sure that all job cards are signed off and loaded on Coswin. Lead the team during the planned outages by ensuring detailed scope of work; schedules; costs; risk and quality plans are signed off and approved before commence with the work. Prepare performance contracts for all sub-ordinates. Conduct performance review every 6 months. Prepare training program for sub-ordinates. Develop and sustain a culture of high safety, performance, professionalism and integrity to support over-all quality of service. Ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined for all personnel in area of responsibility. Ensure training and development take place so that managers and supervisors are equipped to meet Maintenance targets and requirements. Provide input to Maintenance Manager to ensure organizational financial and budget requirements are met. Apply appropriate financial controls to ensure expenditure levels are prudent, and wastage is limited. Manage and ensure procurement is according to PFMA and Necsa policies. Manage and oversee the maintenance stores in terms of maintaining cost effective stock levels and procurement thereof. Plan and get approval for overtime for sub ordinates. Implement and maintain safety regulations and requirements. Ensure compliance with OHS Act and relevant quality standards (ISO 9000 & ISO 14001) Implementation of recommendations from audit report, action plans and incident reports together with your sub ordinates. Ensure that personnel comply with safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Ensure that all sub-ordinates attend Pelchem/Necsa statutory training. Control Totally injury rate. Control disabling injury rate.

(e.g. EE, LRA, BCEA etc.) Leadership competencies
Requirements Minimum Qualifications and Experience: N3 Technical Diploma in Engineering + 10 years' experience in plant maintenance and management of medium and heavy-duty machinery in chemical process plants
OR National Diploma in Engineering + 3 years' experience in operation and management of medium and heavy-duty machinery in chemical process plants.
OR B-Tech Degree in Engineering + 2 years' experience in operation and management of medium and heavy-duty machinery in chemical process plants. Experience in chemical plant/environment will be an added advantage.
