My client based on the South Coast of KZN is currently looking for a suitably qualified person for the position of Maintenance Manager within the Downstream department. This position reports to the Factory Manager.The successful incumbent will Lead and embed the company's way to ensure that Downstream is the best-in-class producer of Furfural, Furfuryl Alcohol and Flavours. The incumbent will provide direction, technical guidance and leadership in maintenance to ensure maximum plant availability and design capacity. He or she will be expected to implement preventative and reactive maintenance in line with the Asset Management Programme.Key Performance Areas:Where required, fulfil requirements as site GMR 2.1 (i.e. accountabilities and responsibilities in terms of the SA OSH Act), providing leadership and ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation and factories regulations.Contribute to the development of maintenance philosophy, plans, goals and KPIs where required. Drive rigorous performance management, biased towards rewarding strong performance and compliance with critical behaviours and including managing consequences where required.Oversee maintenance activities to ensure safety, efficiency, quality control, budgetary control, service, and cost-effective management of resources.Together with the teams, achieve shift, daily, weekly, monthly maintenance targets against business/operational goals and objectives by ensuring that tasks are prioritised and planned in a logical, systematic and cost-effective way to optimise profitability.Drive reliability by making informed trade-offs and driving initiatives that will deliver greatest possible output and quality levels in line with objectives.Report on performance in line with KPIs as well as key adverse or positive developments to Factory Head.Develop and manage all maintenance budgets, liaising with Finance Business Partner and the Optimisation Team.Ensure that each area of plant is maintained to achieve maximum mechanical availability and equipment capacity cost effectively.Ensure the maintenance teams fully leverage available support from within the factory and Illovo Group (Head Office and other countries) across all disciplines.Identify off crop & stop day work and implement maintenance activities in line with plans.Adopt and embed agreed best practices, frameworks and minimum standards for all aspects of planned maintenance as guided by the Asset Management programme.Identify areas where maintenance, equipment performance and quality management can be improved and manage the implementation of systems and processes to make improvements.Establish and lead a problem-solving approach throughout the function and cross functional to identify and address problems and improvement opportunities.Develop capability on the job and hold supervisors accountable for performance.Manage the implementation of effective risk mitigation measures to reduce quality incidents to zero, with no major or repeat findings during audits and inspections.Identify areas where quality, safety and food safety management can be improved and manage the implementation of systems and processes to make improvements.Set direction, implement and monitor effective team communication processes (e.g. between operations and maintenance teams, team alignment processes etc.) to drive best maintenance practices to support stable operations and sustained reliability performance.Monitor and manage equipment technical risk compliance through robust governance processes to maintain adherence to Group risk and assurance standards and requirements.Ensure maintenance reporting is within compliance with company policy and procedures.Provide input into business cases for key capital projects and support delivery, ensuring required economic and desired outcomes are delivered on. Identify and monitor KPIs to track performance and flag any issues.Promote and adhere to company procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, thoserelating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)Minimum Requirements:• Degree or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (GCC required).• 8+ years' experience in manufacturing machinery maintenance.• Continuous improvement knowledge and experience.• Familiarity with Maximo system would be an advantage.• Good business acumen and manufacturing expertise, with ability to anticipate, interpret and respondto changes impacting on functional area.• Strong track record in management and leadership.• Key Culture Attributes: Demonstrates the importance of safety, quality & teamwork; effectively leadsand communicates because our people matter.Salary: Market related with benefits
