We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Technician Maintenance Engineering position within the Services Department. The position will report to the Manager Documentation and is based in Randjespark, Midrand. Job PurposeThe main point of contact with other Engineering and ISR functions (Technical Documentation, RAMS, Design Engineering, System Architect, etc.) to capture all information that can influence the maintenance strategy.Influence the Design for integration of the maintainability constraints (DfS: Design for Serviceability), including the requirements for Predictive Maintenance (PHM: Prognostics & Health Management) and consider all aspects to ensure Services Readiness in the design of the Equipment.Provide support to the Maintenance Engineers on technical investigations, offering technical support to the help desk and ensuring that all documentation production requirements are met.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify the performance allocation in compliance with DFS target.Define maintenance plan and design of LSA elements (MTA, LCC, LORA, RCM).Define spare part allocation for first provisional (LAI).Validation of support solutions and associated maintenance documentation or training toolkit.Capitalize data in the central ISR repository (ILS PDM).Manage LSA activities to deliver QCD commitments in coordination with the ISR Management plan.Ensure technical interfaces with RS, Components, Signaling, and Infra teams (RAMS Architect, mechanical, electrical & system architect, sourcing, LSA for equipment and from suppliers).Ensure that DFS is correctly applied on Sub System (Component Site).Ensure REX is collected and considered.Manage Definition of Logistic Breakdown Structure (LBS) in consistency with Design Engineering BOM definition.Elaborate maintenance plan.Elaborate LCC calculations and analysis.Ensure LSA database (ILS PDM) is defined and completed correctly.Ensure compliance between Spare Part consumption model and maintenance strategy.Validate content of the technical maintenance documentation and training toolkit.Ensure all Work Instructions (WI), Maintenance Instructions (MI), Maintenance and Safety Bulletins, including all other associated Risk assessments, are produced to the relevant standard and presented for sign-off in a timely manner.Manage the production and maintenance of the Bill of Material (BoM) and WI.Manage the production of the preventive, corrective, and overhaul LCC.Assist in parts identification, creation of material reference numbers, and obsolescence management.Produce, update training material, and perform training externally and to the internal team.Continuously improve training material and sustain Trainer qualification to provide Training courses at the expected service level.Minimum RequirementsBEng Tech or BTech in Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.Minimum 2 years' experience in Life Cycle Cost / RAMS in rail or related industry.Registered or Registerable as a Professional Engineer / Technologist with ECSA.Maintenance Documentation Specialisation / Technical Writing experience will be an advantage.Special RequirementsIncumbent may be required to travel to depots.Incumbent may be required to be available after hours.Closing Date: 6 December 2024
