Purpose Statement
Ensure production equipment, infrastructure, fixtures and all other equipment is in good operating condition and well maintained in terms of electrical issues. Conduct fault finding analysis and repairs in the event of any malfunction.

Main Outputs and Responsibilities for this Position
Technical
Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures.
Perform rigging activities (be physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs).
Identify, report and rectify all technical areas of concern on electrical equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
Perform duties in a work environment that will be hot, cold, dirty and fast-paced.
Have an in-depth understanding of Electrical principles and drawings (DC, AC, single phase, 2-phase, 3-phase, 230V, 380V).
Diagnosing malfunctioning electrical systems, apparatus, components, and continuity of circuits using test equipment (ohmmeter, ammeter, voltmeter, oscilloscope/hand tools).
Systematical approach in locating the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Connecting of wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Observing and following all safety regulations and using required PPE.
Programming of variable frequency drives (VFD) and ensuring compatibility and safety of systems.
Have a good understanding of Processes utilized (e.g., material feeding and drying, injection moulding, reheat stretch blow moulding and injection blow moulding) and all equipment utilized.
Technical principles and drawings (e.g., assemblies and spare part finding, pneumatic, hydraulic).
Safe and proficient use of workshop tools (both hand and power).
Independently perform fault analysis and problem solving in case of malfunctioning electrical components or machine malfunction in terms of electrical issues.
Maintenance
Ensure maintenance is done at required intervals according to the plans.
Identify electrical/electronic spares needed for equipment.
Administration (job)
Log jobs performed.
Contact external suppliers as agreed with Senior Electrician to assist in solving problems (quotes on service, spare parts, etc.).
Have an overview of existing stock for equipment.
Spares part analysis (= keep stock vs. source at breakdown).
Likelihood of wear/breakage vs. cost vs. delivery time; report parts needed to Senior Electrician and assist in the decision to have on stock or source at breakdown.
Assist Senior Electrician in the ordering process (e.g., prepare documents, follow up on orders).
Plan for the year ahead; assist Senior Electrician with work on budget for maintenance.
Health & Safety
Ensure and enforce that aspects in the area of responsibility conform to Health and safety requirements.
Maintain housekeeping standards in the area of responsibility (e.g., ensure cleanliness of technical areas, stores, workshops, and machines).
Work safely and report on safety hazards or issues.
Food (Product) Safety
Apply the site's food safety principles and standards.
Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager.
Comply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Company's FSMS (Food Safety Management System).
Self-Development, Growth and Training
Keep abreast of innovation and technical improvements for further self-development and the development of the company.
Keep contact with your key suppliers and discuss with them.
Read operator manuals of machines.
Read literature that has to do with your position (e.g., on the internet, Google, etc.).

General
Perform additional tasks as required (e.g. help each other out if needed). Work overtime when needed, including weekend and night call-outs. Ensure the team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not available. Inform yourself about and apply the company's principles and standards. Set an example, be a role model for your team and others in the way you work and behave. The employee accepts that he/she may be required to carry out any other tasks as required by management based on operational requirements.
Knowledge and Skills
Secondary Education: Grade 12.
Tertiary Education: Minimum N2 in electrical trade theory and trade tested.
Experience: 5 years' experience.

Sound knowledge of H&S and safe working procedures.
