Location: Johannesburg, Benoni Job Overview:A skilled and qualified Maintenance Electrician with a Wiremans License is needed to join the maintenance team.
This role involves attending to electrical fault finding, repairs, and maintenance of plant equipment across two locations: Johannesburg and Donkerhoek.
The successful candidate must have reliable transport, as regular travel between the two sites is required.Key Responsibilities:Electrical Fault Finding & Repairs:Diagnose and repair electrical faults in plant equipment, machinery, and systems to ensure minimal downtime.Conduct troubleshooting for complex electrical problems in motors, control panels, lighting systems, and other electrical installations.Preventive Maintenance:Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure all installations function efficiently.Regularly inspect plant equipment to identify potential issues before they result in breakdowns or downtime.Installation & Upgrades:Assist with the installation of new electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.Make modifications and upgrades to existing electrical systems to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and performanceCompliance & Safety:Ensure all electrical work complies with national electrical standards and regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS).Adhere to safety protocols and practices to ensure a safe working environment.Record Keeping & Reporting:Maintain detailed records of electrical maintenance activities, repairs, and any parts used.Provide feedback and report on the performance of electrical systems, issues requiring attention, and any required improvements to the Maintenance Supervisor.Collaboration:Work closely with the maintenance team and other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure minimal disruption to plant operations.Assist in training junior team members on electrical maintenance procedures and best practicesKey Requirements:Qualifications:Valid Wiremans License (essential).Electrical Trade Qualification (e.g., NTC 4 or equivalent) is a must.Experience:At least 3-5 years of experience as a Maintenance Electrician, with hands-on experience in fault finding, troubleshooting, and repairs in an industrial or manufacturing environment.Proven ability to work with plant equipment such as motors, control panels, PLCs, and electrical wiring.Transport:Must have a valid drivers license and reliable personal transport for frequent travel between the two plants in Johannesburg and Donkerhoek.Problem-Solving:Strong troubleshooting skills to quickly diagnose electrical issues and find effective solutions.Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks to minimize downtime.Safety & Compliance:In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations.Ability to conduct all work in line with safety requirements, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.Communication:Strong verbal and written communication skills to report issues, maintain records, and collaborate with the team.Preferred Skills & Experience:Trade Tested Electrician.Automation & PLCs:Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and automation systems is a plus.Welding & Fabrication:Experience with basic welding or fabrication is advantageous, particularly for working with electrical enclosures or mechanical modifications.High Voltage Experience:Knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems is beneficial but not required.
