PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To maintain and optimise low- and high-level instrumentation, control equipment and systems. Coordinate and manage support and activities in responsible area.
BALANCED SCORECARD PILLARS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, RISK, QUALITY AND COMMUNITY: Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc. Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.) Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox) Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
CUSTOMERS: Ensure Customer Satisfaction as specified Understand how the operation works and the effect of the instrumentation on its deliverables and the way it operates and vice-a-versa Execute work autonomously in designated plate areas of responsibility Take full responsibility in delivering excellence Conduct regular schedule plant inspections Provide feedback to operational and maintenance personnel in designated plant areas after completion of required tasks Attend designated plant areas production and maintenance meetings Continuous improvement around instrumentation in assigned plant area Identify and register improvement projects
BUSINESS PROCESSES: Planning Provide weekly feedback and input to the Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor to ensure proper planning of scheduled tasks Communicate all required spares and services to the Instrumentation Maintenance Planner, all communication to be traceable Do daily confirmations on the SAP system of work performed. Work Execution Complete a risk assessment and obtain a work permit before a task is performed Perform the job as outlined in the Work Order and as per detailed Task List Capture history and complete the notification to the required standard Confirm work order with the correct time and all details to the required standard Provide feedback to the Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor on any task where there is a difference between the task instruction and the job requirements Communicate if spares, equipment or other factors were not available for job on the work order to the Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor Generate notifications from inspections and subsequent notifications Standby Perform standby duties on designated areas from time to time Report any bridging or plant stoppages during call outs immediately to the Instrumentation Senior Standby Inform the Instrumentation Senior standby should a call out extend longer than 3 hours Capture all data related to the call out to aid in determining the root cause in the form of a call out report to be distributed before you leave the site. Communicate to the Instrumentation Senior standby when work is completed before you leave the site

WORKPLACE COMPETENCIES: Skills: Computer literate – Microsoft Office Samancor Chrome Systems (IMS, EBMS, Chrome Doc, SAP, Coupa, MES) Continuously improve technical ability and skills through in house training and keep abreast with new technology implemented by the Instrumentation department Attending specific coursed as required
Knowledge: Demonstrate and apply an understanding of PLC related automation principles and software packages Keep abreast with new industry technology and innovations Obtain and maintain the required tertiary qualifications

Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: National Diploma (NQF 6) or Higher Certificate (NQF 5) – Studying towards a Higher Certificate or National Diploma (Internal Candidates)  National Diploma (NQF 6) or Higher Certificate (NQF 5) (External Candidates) Relevant Trade Test Certificate 3 years relevant experience
Additional qualifications: Computer Literate SAP PLC Training and experience
