Maintenance Assistant | Sessional position FTCFunction: Engineering Facility at Life Bay View Private HospitalA sessional vacancy (1 January 2025 – 30 June 2025) exists for a Maintenance Assistant – Engineering, based at Life Bay View Private Hospital, reporting to Simon Maphutha, Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning and co-ordination of stock for all the theatres in the hospital.Critical OutputsInspect all hospital spaces/areas daily to identify problems or defects with building, land, furniture, and fixtures.Respond to ward and general area requests for soft maintenance services, including replacing air filters, installing new locks, and troubleshooting smoke detectors.Repair plumbing, furniture, ironmongery, bathroom fixtures and fittings, and safety systems in the wards as required.Ensure the parking lot and sidewalks are free from any obstructive features that may cause harm.Inspect and maintain fire sprinklers, boosters, hydrants, hose reels, extinguishers, and common area rubbish receptacles on the premises.Test performance of in-unit appliances, such as toasters, microwaves, stoves, ovens, water hydroboils, and coffee machines.Provide nursing staff with advice and guidance on maintaining their wards and common areas.Respond to requests from doctor's rooms, auxiliary services areas, and soft services maintenance requests as reported.Be fully capable of maintaining and repairing fixtures such as plumbing, carpentry, drywall, small power, flooring, kitchen, bath, roofing, windows, and doors.Perform building painting and area pressure washing.Maintain and arrange signage, wall pictures, decorative fixtures, and road marking.RequirementsPractical experience in a hospital environment or similar environment is essential.Proven experience in plumbing, building painting, carpentry, welding, and tiling.Applicants need to have a minimum qualification of Matric.N2 qualification equivalent with a minimum of 3 years in engineering maintenance or facilities maintenance environment.CompetenciesProblem-solving, analysis, and judgementResilienceEngaging diversityVerbal & written communicationDrive & energyEthical behaviorBuilding relationshipsCustomer responsivenessOrganisational awarenessEmail: ****** date: Friday, November 22, 2024Internal applicants - Before making an application, you are requested to discuss your application with your line manager.
