Maintenance Assistant

A vacancy has become available for a Maintenance Assistant, based at Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous availability of general building/electrical maintenance services for the Hospital infrastructure.Critical OutputsResponsible for all maintenance related issues on a day-to-day basis;Responsible for all general maintenance enquiries relating to doctors and nursing staff;Execute repairs/tasks as per job card and instructions or ad hoc requests from line manager;Provide line managers with relevant information as required;Supervise the daily inspection of medical gas alarm system and recording of medical gasses;Supervise the daily inspection of vacuum pumps, medical air compressor, plumbing, and general maintenance;Follow up maintenance schedule for air conditioning and filters.RequirementsGrade 12 or equivalent;Experience in general hospital maintenance, plumbing, painting, hospital beds, door locks, carpentry, etc. would be advantageous;Knowledge of electrical/mechanical installations and maintenance thereof;Conversant in English;Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;Ability to complete tasks timeously and accurately and be able to work under pressure;Eager to learn new systems and to accept work challenges;Adhere to NOSA and OHSA acts;Be in possession of a valid driver's license;Perform standby duties.CompetenciesProblem-solving, analysis, and judgement;Resilience;Engaging diversity;Verbal & written communication and presentation;Influencing;Building relationships;Customer responsiveness;Organisational awareness;Drive & energy;Excellence orientation;Ethical behaviour.Email: ****** date: Friday, August 30, 2024.Internal applicants - Before making an application, you are requested to discuss your application with your line manager.
